When you wake up, have coffee & still be tired, how can you still be sleepy if you slept for alot of hours?

Depends on a lot of factors; physical and mental health, activity level, etc. Probably different for everybody.

I'm going through this right now. I quit smoking recently and I've been absolutely exhausted. I can get a full night's sleep, but then I want to nap all day anyway. It can also happen if I've socialized or just generally been more active than usual; my "battery" runs down easy.

Depends on the individual.
In varying levels; not necessarily in order, but it's cyclical.

The person's habits.
Are they accustomed doing heavy work? Do they work out? Are they consuming healthier stuff? Do they sleep at all? Do they manage their stress?

The person's make up.
Are the stuff they're consuming and doing just right for them? Is sleep never enough for them?
Are they actually perpetually be in a place where there are triggers?

Then the person's health.
Are they, hormonally and cellularly like the majority? Do they or do they not have a specific deficiency or something like metabolic disorders?

Then the person's bodily reactions and acting upon that demand...
How do they manage their stress? Are their means of coping healthy or not healthy? It goes back and became the person's habit.
Do they have like cravings that they may or may not manage? Etc.



Personally, I could be running on 50% for all I know and my usual warning system goes off at less than 15%.

Yet I also do know what it's like to have a 100% -- it's just that, frustratingly, less than 50% is this body's so called 'baseline' because it's 'enough'. :roll: I want more.

My energy doesn't run out easily even with me being at 50%.
But that doesn't make me more efficient. It just makes me do bare minimum or half assed.

Even if my minimum looked adequate and barely passable, I'm still don't feel and still not being myself.
I don't like it.

'More sleep' doesn't work for me.
'Better sleep' does. Coffee won't give me that.

And coffee no longer works well for me, sleep quality and quantity or not.

So I'll just focus on how to have the ideal type of stress levels I do at the day.
How to actually eat right for my body, how to be able to trick my mind from going overboard by having less screen time and more "boredom training".

Perhaps you were not getting quality sleep for some reason. It could also be due to meds if you started or changed any meds rite before this started.

I wouldn't stress it unless it's become problematic in your life or has been going on for a long time... if it is/has, you might want to mention it to your gp.

I have times where my energy levels are lower and I can sleep 10 hours at night and still want a nap in the day. :lol: But I am a person who requires a lot of sleep to function in general. 10 hours isn't too excessive for me or even far from my ideal. Things that make me more sleepy or make it harder for me to wake up... being sick, stressed, hormonal, dealing with a lot of stuff, the weather, lack of exercise, staying up too late, sleeping too much (I do hit a point where too much is too much), so on. It just happens sometimes. *shrugs*

Our brains are very busy while we sleep. I think mine gets tired of being asleep. At least that's how it feels to me sometimes.
