I heard running helps lose fat faster than walking, but its also more exhausting. Can you explain what you think about this and what do you prefer?

Walking isn't intense enough to burn visceral fat.

False.

Fast paced walking burns the most fat.

When you get up to jogging, running, or sprinting speed your heart beats harder and you build your cardiovascular health/strength (heart & lungs) but your heart rate is no longer in the fat burning range - it’s too fast.

The ideal fat burning pace is an annoyingly fast paced walk - about as quickly as you can walk without breaking into a jog/run. And if you can’t managed fast walking, then medium paced or slow walking is the way to go.

Modern treadmills indicate the fat burning and cardio building ranges and measure heart rate so you can get feedback and see what range you’re in etc. But even without these tools and just going by the style of cardio exercise you’ll do perfectly fine.. just keep it to a fast walking pace or below to burn fat instead of building your heart and lungs and not burning fat.

Edit: I have no preference. But if my goal is to burn a few lbs of fat I’ll keep the pace below a run. If it’s to go hiking or trekking around I’ll walk for safety. If it’s to get a nice clear head from a “runners high,” I’ll run. If it’s just to get a general cardio workout then I’ll mix it up with a varied but structured pace going up and down finishing off with a sprint. Etc. Depends on my purpose for getting into motion which I prefer in the moment.
