Why do cats bite people? They shouldn’t bite their owners, they shouldn’t bite the hand that feed them & buy them food & toys. My cat mainly bites me at night. And she scratch my sheet, she has a scratch post in my bedroom, she has two.

They bite bc they can't talk. Also, they're a-holes who make themselves difficult and annoying just because. Best to just go along with their abuse, because it also means they love you. Cats are like us, after all. Or is it the other way around?

Sometimes it's play-biting.

Other times they are just telling you to back off and give them space. Cats have stricter boundaries than dogs and aren't afraid to enforce them. They also tend to get overstimulated by too much petting - which is why they might be enjoying the attention one minute and then bite your hand the next.

One of my cats also attacks my ankles when he's frustrated, like if I forgot to feed him and he's super hungry and I'm still not feeding hi.

I now have five cats, including two kittens aged 10 weeks and 8 weeks.

The 8 week girl is absolutely OBSESSED with sniffing, kneading, drooling upon, nose-butting, and biting my face. It's the cutest thing. She won't stop purring and it's like she thinks my nose is ... her mama. She bites my lips, my cheeks, or any part of my face she can reach, but mostly my nose.

It's all done in a baby-kisses kind of way and it doesn't hurt. I'm stopping her of course but I can't ever hold her if I'm lying down or she'll squirm up to my face and go-to-town on it. Even when I'm asleep she'll come over and stick her nose in my nose like she's in love, but then try to nurse from my face.

My older cats don't bite but they did when they were younger. One of them liked to bite my fingertips.

If your cat is an adult make sure she has a variety of toys (climbers, hiding places, lasers, bunny kickers, string toys, mice to hunt, and stuff with bells. Two of my cats only respond to bell toys). Keep her really busy and feed her AFTER a hunting session so when she catches a toy, she gets to eat. It helps with their "bite stuff" instinct.

When my boy was a kitten he used to spend all night biting and kicking my hand while I slept. At first it was cute and didn't hurt.... but as he grew it began to be painful and I had to start shaking him off! lol Babies like that are still learning how to be gentle

I just reread and saw the part about the scratching post. Some cats like different textures for scratching. Maybe the scratching post isn't her preferred texture?

My cats really like perforated cardboard textures, they sell these for cats in stores. They are cheap, but have to be replaced a lot.

They need to be able to scratch some kind of surface, their claws will get growths on them otherwise.

Right! I'm not saying it's good! Don't ever let them bite your hands when they're little even if it doesn't hurt, because it forms bad habits. Hands should never be "toys" for them, meaning you can't just tickle their tummies with your hand and let them think your hand is a plaything. Always redirect to a real toy. I would have said the same thing about faces but I don't think most people have kittens trying to suck their nose. lol I should post a video. Sometimes she'll try over and over again for about 20 minutes when I'm lying down and I keep trying to put her on my chest or move her elsewhere but she's insistent on my face lmao. It's certainly not "allowed", but it's funny. She misses her mama.

Get her a cardboard bed on Amazon. My cats LOVE those things. They stay warm from bodyheat, they're bowl shaped to support their muscles / body shape, and they can rip at them for years. Most of mine have lasted about two years before needing replaced. Only one of them likes sisal rope (the stuff on cat towers), and none of them like regular cardboard scratchers like the upright ones. They only like the beds.

I had a friend that got old banana boxes for her cats to shred. But she had a back porch for them , a shredded banana box isn’t attractive in the living room.

Here's my ten week boy with two of the cardboard beds.
It's hard to tell but they're concave (bowl shaped) inside.
They're about $50 here but you can get them on sale for about $35 sometimes.
Mind you, in USA they're likely about $20.

You can also get a huge assortment of cat toys, kickers, and wands for about $20 on Amazon.

Some cats have various issues & can get triggered by certain things. My girlfriend had a cat who hated her making a whistling type sound. The cat would come over & climb on Cass's lap when she made that kinda noise & then bite Cass on the nose if Cass didn't stop making the sound rite then. The tone/pitch of that sound was probably painful for the cat or triggered some kinda PTSD type reaction. The cat also got aggressive when Cass tried to give her baths. The cat was sorta a stray that had a messed up leg that was probably a birth/genetic defect & she hated being handled certain ways probably because it caused her pain. The cat died a couple years before I met Cass so I just heard stories. One of Cass's brothers had a cat who was very aggressive towards women & only women. It was probably something about women's pheromones that triggered him. Guys could handle the cat fine but women had to be careful just passing by him cuz he would sometimes just aggressively attack them. The cat was sorta a rescue so we would guess he had some bad experiences with a woman in the past but that's just speculation.

On an ep of My Cat From Hell, there was a cat who got wild at night because the headlights of cars passing by on the road were shinning through the window & triggering him. Blocking the window off with a darker curtain & getting the cat on some kinda anxiety type med stopped him from acting out. I'm not sure if anything like that is going on with your cat or not Kitty  It would help if you could figure out your cat's triggers so you could minimize them or at least predict when to keep your cat away from you but figuring that out may be very difficult. I wish I had some better advice.
