If we evolved our sense of what's cute based off of our own young, so that we'd be more likely to protect them and take care of them, shouldn't babies be the cutest possible thing?

But there are so many other baby animals that are cuter than baby humans. I know it's subjective, but it's a very common opinion. Just look at how much more popular cute animal videos are than baby videos.

I imagine you might feel a deeper connection to your own new born child than you would a puppy or kitten. My neighbours just had a kid and yeah, it is pretty boring to behold at this point, it's like a little monkey / grub.

I cant speak for others but I'm a bit of a misanthrope & I value & appreciate animals more than the hew-mon species. The hew-mon species is extremely overly populated & it's majorly harming the envionment & causing LOTS of animal species to rapidly decline. The word would be much better off with aLOT less people & more animals instead. I also find hew-mon babies loud, chaotic, & alot more high-maintanance. This is probably a factor for why I find baby animals cuter.

i dunno. ive never found human babies to be particularly cute. other animal babies however are cute to me. one of my professors said that some animals have developed big eyes and fluffy tails as a survival mechanism for living around humanity. perhaps thats true. its hard to say.
