Last night, I went to the Olive Garden for dinner for the first time in many years. In the past, I really didn’t think they were that great.

When I went this time, I decided that I do not like the Olive Garden, period. Just thinking about their food selections grosses me out

I'm almost always disappointed when I go out to eat (or get food delivered). Its never a good as I remember it / want it to be or feel it should be considering the price, atmosphere, etc.

I am finding that most Italian restaurants were leave me feel disappointed. There is nothing special about their pastas or sauces

I think most restaurants are both raising prices and cutting corners on recipes. They really shouldn't do both. Most of the time I can do better at home, and I don't claim to be a great cook, but the things I do like to make I do well enough to make most people happy.

I'd also swear that the last time I went out, my food came straight out of a microwave, (cold in the middle, hot around the edges). The whole thing on top of a puddle of water. Not a pleasant experience.

I thought Olive Garden went out of business about ten years ago?

They did here.

This is exactly why I like Olive Garden (& Fazoli's): they lack strong seasoning. I love italian, but I really dislike basil & oregano. I can't eat at places with more authentic italian (Buca di Beppo). I actually prefer eating out (at chain restaurants) because the food is going to be the same in multiple locations.

They reminded me of Spaghetti Factory or East Side Mario's.
Everything tasted exactly the same -- like steam.

It's been a long time since I've been to an Olive Garden, but I don't like it either. I don't think anyone considers them to be really good. I think the appeal is that it's comfort food and they serve large portions.

I mostly like Indian, Asian, and Mexican restaurants. And health-food/vegetarian restaurants. Everything else is too rich and heavy, and bland at the same time.

I liked East Side Mario’s and Fazoli’s I thought they had better flavor. I also happen to refer to Italian restaurants here you get a basket of bread that one dips on olive oil.
