My friend ran from the cops on his motorcycles in the last few years of riding.. never once got a speeding ticket because he's never stopped! Crazy. Both his bikes are 1200cc Suzukis and one of them is modified by a previous owner for a lot more power. He's speeding along well over the limit, cops light him up with red & blues behind him, he drops a gear and hits the throttle and disappears getting up close to the bike's top end speed limit of 270kmh.
Said the cops came to his house and banged on the door a few times and said they wanna talk to him and he just tells them he's not interested in talking to them and doesn't open the door. The One Time they came and he was outside and they wanted to ask him about his motorcycle being seen excessively speeding, and his plate number identified, he told them his bike was stolen and he made a post on Facebook in and luckily someone had seen it abandoned in a parking lot and he was able to go retrieve it undamaged - thankfully. lolol I just thought the whole thing was hilarious.. everyone knows he's full of s**t, but they can't PROVE he was riding it.. especially if he never ever stops.
I asked him if he worries about wiping out and he just says no not really.. that he'd rather go out with a bang having lived fully and completely than play everything super safe his whole life and never have the thrill of riding the speeds he wants to go at. He's plenty old enough to make his own decisions I suppose.. not decisions I would make, though, even if I had a faster bike.
Anyways, just thought I'd share as I was rather entertained by his attitude about the whole thing and thought it might make someone else have a little "Whoa.." laugh in ~almost disbelief that people do this stuff. But I guess amongst those with a need for speed it happens more often than we think.

I heard a story of how someone outran a police helicopter!
Apparently there was a significant elevation gain on the road ahead, so the helicopter needed to climb as well as travel fast. This gave the car the advantage he needed! He also figured out that the helicopter pilot would not radio for assistance.

Impressive.
Another friend of mine ran from cops on his motorcycle twice.. got caught both times, the final time was a helicopter chase with police cars in pursuit.. eventually he ditched the bike and ran on foot and was tackled by a police dog. Had to go to court, cost him a bunch of money.
IMO he's on the spectrum and one of us who's extremely anti-authoritarian and obviously impulsive when it comes to running from cops for the thrill of it and a big F the police factor. Reeeeeally f*****g stupid considering his big was a 125cc CBR and he's a short slightly stout guy.. neither the bike or him ever had a chance of out running a cop, helicopter, dog etc. Just a bonehead move all around.
I think he sold the bike to keep himself out of trouble riding it without a licence. I tried to phone him up a couple weeks back but some chick had the number, so he's changed his phone number. Makes me wonder if he's still living at his dad's large house 30mins away or if he decided to peace out and go back to England or something ? Who knows. I suppose I could swing by the car dealership sometime where he works/ed and see if he's still there. Never know, maybe he died ? Or maybe he just got tired of his ex wife being able to contact him and changed his number lol

Going at speeds of 270 kmh is fine and dandy for oneself, if a person feels that they don't care about the risks.
But if a person is doing that around other vehicles and potentially endangering other people, then they are an idiot and don't deserve any sympathy.

He is probably ADHD.
Or obviously he could be comorbid with both. But the autistic part has little to do with the behavior in question.
Ok, you tell it to the doctor who wrote the book about AS that being extremely anti-authoritarian is not a possible AS trait.
Just because everyone doesn't have the trait or symptom doesn't mean it's not part of ASD.

At that speed, if there are no other vehicles in sight.. if there are other vehicles on the highway they will be near pretty quickly.
There are a bunch of riders who regularly ride at those sorts of speeds. Not a majority, but definitely more than just a handful.
Typically, if they crash, they're pretty much only taking themselves out. Might damage another vehicle if they glance off it.. but rare that a motorcycle crashes and harms/kills people inside a car or truck. Usually just wrecks the car and really f***s the rider up if they survive.
Still, though.. even just the trauma someone has to experience coming across a solo accident scene = not something I'd want to put anyone through.
But, speedy speeders have their justifications for doing what they do.. and Usually they do their thing and arrive back home alive and safe and live to do it another time.

It's just unnecessarily dangerous to speed around other vehicles and it can cause car crashes and death of the car driver if they lose control of their car at a relatively high speed. Even crashes at 60mph or so can often be deadly.
Swerving is an instant reaction of some people to avoid oncoming dangers, including motorbikes which sometimes weave in an out of traffic.
I really don't like motorbikes, lol.

You're preaching to the choir. I don't ride at those speeds and don't have any interest in doing it.. too concerned about how one little wrong move at those speeds and it's not just game over, but life over. The fastest I've ever ridden is about 150kmh on my speedo, so probably a true 142-145kmh as they all read a little high. With brand new custom suspension just installed it feels WAY more stable and safe, so eventually I'll probably ride faster than I ever have. In terms of speed, I only really feel like riding a true 161kmh just to say I rode at 100mph. Other than that meh I don't really care. My bike has a theoretical top speed of 205kmh, anyways.. it isn't anything like the actually fast motorcycles that all go over 300kmh.
I do like motorcycles, though. But I ride pretty textbook according to training and more cautiously than most as I don't care to save a few seconds here and there that could risk my life. I don't mind just cruising along with traffic vs. the type of riders that "Must," pass as many cars as possible as they weave in and out of traffic down the highway.

I am what they call one of the "ATGATT," people.. All The Gear All The Time. Kneepads under my jeans, proper riding boots & gloves, riding jacket, helmet. And if I could find any armoured motorcycle jeans that fit my legs (so far, no to any I've found for sale and tried on) then I'd spend the $$$ on those and wear them, too. Makes me cringe seeing people in shorts, t-shirts and running shoes just because it's a hot day out. "Dress for the slide, not the ride," as they say.
Proper lessons/training & practice helps big time as well. WAY too many riders on the road that don't have any clue how dangerous they are to themselves when they're riding in blind spots and don't have any clue where they Should be riding to be move visible to as many other road users as possible. If you can't afford the riding lessons, then you can't afford to get out on the road on two wheels. Everything about motorcycling is very expensive here.. definitely costs more than driving a small car, so budgeting for riding lessons first should be step 1 no matter what. It's little wonder so many riders die every year.. ignorance + bravado = bye bye.

What does THAT hafta do with it?
The guy is a thrill seeker who craves physical danger. So he taunts the police on the road. Thrill seeking is an adhd trait. Not an aspie trait. He isnt necessarily even "anti authoritarian". Taunting the police could just be his means to his thrill seeking end...not the central motivation. And there are a countless other ways to be "anti authoritarian" that involve less physical danger. Just stay in your bed room and smoke some illegal weed, and you're giving authority the finger.

Ok, tell it to Dr. Tony Attwood.
Being anti-authoritarian is not his only trait - and he's far more anti-authoritarian than the surface I've scratched in my post above. I've known the guy for about 25 years.
Anyways..
The weather is nice today. MAYBE I'll get out for a motorcycle ride.. I *should*, but I'm waiting on a phone call I hope comes telling me some things are ready for me to go pickup so I'll need to be able to take the call and be near my car. So, Maybe ride later today.. maybe not - just depends how the day and the weather goes I guess. But right now it's pretty bright and sunny.

I think I am simply more aware & accepting of the laws of physics than some others out there who think they’re invincible and have no comprehension of what’s going to happen to their brains & guts if they collide with a heavy vehicle or stationary object.

That is a good point also. I do often wonder how some people can be so careless on the road.
