I used to work on an 8 day rotating rota. I was off four days every week and worked 4 days every week. Monday's no longer existed in my life and my weekend was only on a Saturday and Sunday once in whatever time it took to come round again. I never knew what day of the week it was or what time of year it was either.

It was f*****g wonderful.

No.

They were just using hyperbole to make the point that there isnt enough time in the week to show how much I love my baby, or whatever.

However indirectly they did create another more irksome issue.

Roger McGuinn of the Byrds was composing a song while Eight Days a Week was a hit. So McGuinn felt he had to reference that Beatles hit in his song. So his musical descripiton of his band's jet airline trip to the UK to tour (..and when you touch down..its stranger than you know) was changed from "six miles high" to "eight miles high" even though commercial jets normally only fly at at an altitude of six to seven miles. The more accurate "Seven" has an additional syllable, but ...he coulda gone with "six" for chrissakes.

Needless abuse of poetic license I say!

Nothing wrong with "six miles high...and when you touch down...its stranger than you know".

Maybe an eighth day should really be added to the week. Some people would work the first four days of the week and get the second four days off. Other people would get the first four days of the week off and work the second four days of the week.

The French Revolutionary Calendar tried to establish a 10-day week. It didn't catch on, obvs. The 8th day was just called "octidi".
