Do any of you have grandparents? Are any of them alive, or are they all dead?

Out of my grandparents, only my maternal grandmother is still alive. She's 91 and living in a nursing home, and she has Alzheimer's, but she's doing okay. My maternal grandfather died in 2012 and my paternal grandfather in 2018. My paternal grandfather was married twice - his first wife died long before I was born and his second wife died a year after he did. My maternal grandparents were born in Italy while my paternal grandparents were born in the United States.

I also had a great-grandmother (my paternal grandfather's mother) until I was 12.

Mine are all dead.
They died when I was 10, 16, 21, and 33 respectively.
I knew one great-grandmother who died when I was 8.
My dad is dead.
My mother is 85 and a widow.
She and my brother both have cancer.

All of mine are dead but one. She's my mum's stepmum.

Both the sets of my grandparents are long dead, I used to know only my mom's parents who died when I was respectively 12 and 18. My father's parents are also deceased, all I knew about them is that their names were Henryk and Maria and that Maria's maiden name was translated as a Polish term for a rooster. That's ALL I know about them.

I have a step-grandfather and a step-grandmother, neither of whom I see. The divorce of their partners (my mom's mom and dad) was really traumatic to their family and I grew up with no real relationship with either of my mom's parents (or their new partners).

Generally speaking, I tend to only think of my dad's parents as my grandparents. They're both deceased.

My last living grandparent was my paternal grandmother. She died in 1973. My parents notified me by letter.

A few years later the cat I grew up with, my best friend, died. My parents telephoned me about that!

I'll be 28 in January, and they're all still alive and in their own homes. I don't know anyone else my age who has all four grandparents still living.
