For the past week I was away camping at Lost Lake NF near Mt. Hood. My story of survival is not of the terrain or weather conditions. No it has to with the grossly overpriced items at the General Store! (Examples-$2.00 for a 50 cent candy bar. $60/day to rent a row boat-thank goodness I brought my own.) The list goes on.

I may create bumper stickers reading "I Survived the Lost Lake General Store." With $$$ signs all around.

Have you ever experienced similar situations? Share your stories here.

Maybe the same people that own the general store run that restaurant.

They only charged me $10/day to tight my boat up to the dock. Just kidding.

I can understand a small isolated store having high prices but I hate places like theme parks or other events where all the merchants have insane pricing like $5 for a non-alcoholic drink.

Hurricane Allen

I was four. It almost got me twice. First on the road when my grandmother's Maverick spun out on the highway because of the downpour, and a heavy, glass five gallon water jug conked me out. Luckily we didn't crash or roll over. Then at my Uncle's to ride out the storm, I swallowed and almost choked on a Sorry! pawn.

Don't be sorry. Many people here have gone through some hairy situations. Myself-

I lived less than a mile from the location (170th & SE Stevens) and heard, saw and felt (the roar of the engines) as the plane coming down.

Hi, whiteskunk. Whoops, I think I should explain what I wrote. I meant that I choked on a little plastic pawn from the (ancient!) board game "Sorry!" Though I was pretty sorry for putting my family through that unnecessary panic in the middle of a hurricane.

Wow... I can't begin to imagine seeing something like that. Large vehicles make me nervous enough to begin with.

LOL! It's okay. To be honest, that was the only time as a teen that I pissed in my pants. But don't tell anyone else.

I'm proud to say after 26 years of flipping people off on the freeway, I haven't been shot at yet.
