Does anyone else ever get the urge to climb up things? I mean, I see structures, hills, rocks and I want to have a go at climbing them, even though I never have attempted such like activities before. :?

I've had urges like that for as far back as I can remember. Probably a desire to show off, when I couldn't figure out the "fear of heights" that I'd heard some people had. I've also done some serious climbing. 50+ foot vertical cave entrances, using either cable ladders or rope/harness/acenders. I've done some mountain repelling too. These were with experienced instructors. Don't try anything serious without learning firsthand from experienced instructors. You don't want to put your life on the line with a mere wikipedia education.

Had an Urge to climb from as early as I can remember. It was discouraged once I was adopted because it wasnt "lady like".I still love the stretching feelings in climbing and looking for toe/hand holds.I'm a bit like a cat, though, getting up is easier then getting back down,(call the fire truck, she is stuck in a tree again, lol)I always wanted to get into "cliff climbing" but never had the money, social guts to join a group...(not something you really should do solo). The urge to jump from high places is a little bit more disturbing.

I was still climbing trees at 15/16 lol.
Got stuck up one at school and my lesbian gym teacher had to help me down
I still do climb things. I climb onto small walls and stuff like that...cannot resist.

I could never climb things that well. I can't barely climb a ladder. I use to avoid monkey bars as a child. Never climbed a tree in my life.

My dad used to take me & occasionally my younger sister rock-climbing when we were children.

It can get VERY scary!

But definately try it, if you can get someone to go up first and set up the safety-points etc.

Not lately but alot when I was young. I think its a symptom of ADD/ADHD to want to climb obsessively.

I been a climbing fool all my life. Trees when I was a kid, rock climbing when I got older. Got in a bit of trouble on one zoo job when I rigged a Tyrolean traverse (you slide along a rope stretched horizontal) in the giraffe cage. The excuse was that the door was jammed. I made it out of coat hangars and it didn't work too good.

My all time favorite jobs were scaffold builder and Ironworker. They actually pay you.

I'm not usually into this sort of thing, but I always figured air was my element. I love having it all around me, especially below.

Somewhere in the process I got old.

I like to go up mountains, tho I have not done it in a while. Im afriad of hights, i need to have ground under me. I got the balls to climb up an old fire tower on top of a mountain fully awair that if, God forbid i should fall, i would hit the rock summet, and I was alone, who knows who else was on the mountain with me, and how long it would be b4 the next person made it to the summet, its very dangerous to go up a mountain solo, as it is to hike in the wilderness for miles alone, but I did it.

I climbed fences, i like doing that, and I climbed up a bridge when I was with friends, only cause they were doing it and i did not want them to think i had a fear of hights. It is harder always getting down.

Glad its not just me then.Went to a 'climbing wall' today, (first time) was great, did some 'bouldering' - climbing without ropes etc. bit scared when I got over the top, think I had so much adhrenaline. Its become a bit of an obsession to do it again....

I've tried rock climbing. My biggest problem I can never relax or recover my strength while I'm holding onto the wall. It's really hard when I get stuck in an awkward position. My legs start trembling and the drops of sweat running down my body start to tickle me. Usually at this point I have to let go and let the harness catch me or my legs will cramp up. I do better if I can climb the whole wall in one big spurt.

I did pretty high grade rock climbing for many years - mainly through my student days. I found it to be the best antidote to intense mental study. I was at my happiest when going out to climb & afterwards completely refreshed mentally to resume studies. Problem is finding a climbing buddy if you are Aspie. Modern solo climbing is practically incomprehensible to me. I felt absolutely re-assured by the climbing equipment & technique.

It came to an end when I moved to a flat part of the country. When I returned to the mountaineous region I discovered surfing - much easier for an Aspie. Both made great contributions to my quality of life so I really encourage you to persue it.
