Flo from cryptopsy is probably my favorite. vinnie paul is good for a fatman drummer, Fenriz, trym, anders kobro are all very cool!

if ichiro suzuki played the drums he would be spectacular. :D

Laurence Colbert from Ride, and Russell Simins from the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. Both exceedingly good at what they do.

Do you mean traditional, "easy listening" jazz or the mental acid jazz stuff?

Another drummer I should mention is Jason Finn from the Presidents of the USA - he fills in lots of spaces without ever being too intrusive, which is quite an art.

After picking myself up from the floor following the shock of it all:

JOHN BONHAM

Only the greatest drummer who ever drew breath.........

Others would include Nicko McBrain from Iron Maiden, Barriemore Barlow from Jethro Tull & Mitch Mitchell from the Jimi Hendrix Experience. I'm glad that Rob Hirst & Ian Paice got a mention too ! !

He was such a critical part of Led Zeppelin they could not continue without him.

ah, what a cool thread!

My faves are Stuart Copelnd (just saw the Police here in Toronto on sunday night), Neil Pert (Rush), Manu Katche (session drummer best known for work with Peter Gabriel), Carter Buford (Dave Matthews band). The dude from Mars Volta is also incredible (his name escapes me now). I also love the clasic rock titans: Keith Moon, John Bonham, Phil collins
