When I began posting on Wrong Planet in 2008, this place was a busy humming place. It seemed like as soon as you made a post, it wasn't a minute or two later that someone responded to yours. Having been away from here for awhile, I have made a few posts today and looked the site over. Where is everyone? Yes, there are posters, but not nearly as many as there used to be.

A lot of the people who would formerly have used forums, now use social media groups and such as an alternative - that seems to be where a lot of the folk have gone from all forums, not just this one.

I'm still here, though I haven't been as prolific as I used to be.

Welcome back! Long time no see!

I"d say there's about 20 daily regulars, but I haven't counted.
It's nice to see you again.
Hope you stay.

This ^
Back in the day WP was one of the leading resources in a field of very few offering a similar community support network. Online communities are much more common now and address all sorts of things.

Another reason might be that since 2008, many of the regulars have simply grown into better managing their own circumstances and WP is not as valuable or as useful to them as it once was.
People... change.

WP certainly still has a significant value (it's not all PPR after all ), but there are more resources to choose from.

Also, welcome back!

My impression is that some of the people who just wander through WP benefit somewhat from the information they get here...even if they don't become regulars.

Maybe lot of people left because they were sick of American politics saturating everything and the incel-fueled misogyny. It's the reason I stopped going on WP a few times.

Yeah.

I personally, barely posted on the forum for many years after joining. I just got busy with life and I can imagine that other people probably only have time for social media in their down time and nothing else in a lot of cases.

I want to thank all of you for replying. And also, thank you for welcoming me back. It feels like a refreshing start.

Pretty sure that 99% of posters here are Cornflake's sock-puppets. Including me.
