In the whippet community to which my partner belongs, snakes are known as "Danger noodles"
I find this appellation hilarious.

Who can tell me an equivalently funny pseudonym?

My family used to have pet rats and we called them "chaos potatoes".

I've heard raccoons called "trash pandas".

I call alligators "swamp kittens".

The Acme Screw and Bolt Co. was referred to by tradesmen as "Love 'em and Leave 'em".

I just remembered... Downunder we refer to Ibis as "Bin chickens"
Watching emus open wheelie bins, I think the name ought to belong to them

I'll think of those danger noodles as I drift to sleep. I'm due for an exciting dream.

Not quite the same thing but I know someone who calls the crusts on pizza “pizza bones” because they are left when you are done eating and you toss them to the dog. (I always eat mine, wouldn’t have occurred to me).

Joke: what so you call a fake noodle? An im-pasta (impostor)

I know someone else who refers to a house cat as a “house panther” (which is no doubt how they see themselves)

In some wilderness camping areas the chipmunks are called “mini bears” because if you don’t properly store your food the “mini bears” are attracted to it and will eat your stores, just like bears in some areas (even the same areas).

The mosquito is sometimes said to be the “state bird” of New Jersey.

Once in high school biology class question and answer session one of the students raised his hand and with a completely serious face asked “what is the official name for snot?” The teacher replied “the official name for snot is ‘snot noodles’ because like regular noodles they come in two varieties: wet and dry”

Come to think of it: roadkill snakes come in wet and dry too.

ChatGPT offers

"Danger noodles" is a great example of playful language. Here are some equally amusing pseudonyms for various animals:

1. Bats: "Fluffy sky puppies"
2. Penguins: "Formal chickens"
3. Raccoons: "Trash pandas"
4. Otters: "Water weasels"
5. Seals: "Sea puppies"
6. Moose: "Forest tanks"
7. Jellyfish: "Ocean jellies"
8. Cats: "Fur overlords"
9. Owls: "Hooty hoots"
10. Frogs: "Boingy boys"

These whimsical names capture the fun and endearing nature of the animals in a similar vein to "danger noodles" for snakes.
