Happy birthday! And no, you don't need anything to make a wish. If you want, you can just buy a small muffin or something and light a candle.

Nope.

If a prayer and a will upon your special day don't feel like it's enough, then the typical ritual of a candle on any soft enough bread is more than enough of a setup.
