In case of fire do not use elevator.
I was once at a team brief when I worked on the railways. Due to circumstances beyond their control they had to delay our team briefs for several months so while it would normally be 3 or 4 staff attending, on this occasion we had 14.
Now the trains manger had to ask (As our company had offices in two tall buildings in the city. One on the 9th floor of a 11 floor tall building which I rarely ever needed to visit, and the other was on the 5th floor of a 5 storey building which I visited more often) this question.
"In the event of a fire, if you are in "** ****** *****" or "****** *****" (I have not said the buildings names), what don't you use to escape from the buildings?"
While I knew they wanted us to say not to use the lifts, I am one who wants to answer a different answer, so I said "The windows" because I reasoned that it is high up there and the chances one will survive the fall are not great.
With that for a good while they were in hysterics as they all thought it was funny. My trains manager said "That was not quite the answer I was looking for but you are quite correct. Don't use the windows..."
Also, do not use water on certain fires, especially electrical fires or chip pans etc.
