Iron will naturally rust. But nickel can hep protect it if it is a tight enough matrix. It seems it is the black iron oxide crust that is rusting rather than the iron/nickel mix.

TM1 is probably better with the chemistry though.

Not that just removes tarnishing.

very interesting/ me and nickle suddenly have never wanted our relationship to be closer.

heres my meteorite, the area of worst rusting is visiable to the plain eye

Otherwise you have to keep it in an inert environment.

i couldnt look it at it though like that. i need to see spots of the metal shining through, it would remind me of painting a aluminum bench in thick schoolyard paint. that will chip causing me distress

ive read somewhere that keeping the meteorite it a bat of transmission fluid will slow down rusting but i like sleeping with it. but i will do whatever it takes

I would suggest spraying it in WD-40 for now.

If you don't have WD-40 wegitable oil is good too.

I'm thinking a hot 'bluing' or 'seasoning' technique might retain the shine. Also some silica coating. Not sure.

Suggest either lacquer or wax.

I would go with the wax it is unlikely to do damage and keep the appearance.
