Curious if its worth joining mensa. I got high enough on the IQ test my psyc doc gave me as part of my neurological exam, but not sure if it is worth the hassle.

A chance at socializing would be nice, but I only really get along with other AS people. What's the chances of me running into other aspies/auties?

I'd like to network some for work since I have an engineering degree now, but is that even probable or just a waste of time?

My fiancee was invited to join when she was ten, but she said she didn't like them because "they were all d*cks". Normally I'd just take her word, but she was a ten year old hanging out with adults. Any truth to them being that way?

What is the point of a club for those who suffer form, mental acceleration? Its nothinggood being mentally accelerated. Victimised for being able to think for youself and the envy (which can turn into vitriolic hate) from those with lower IQs. It would be evil to wish mental acceleration on someone. I've heard of Mensa but I do not qualify for mensa membership glad about that. But Depending on the person most of these organisations for the mentally accelerated are for predominantly allistic people. Even though I had two IQ tests with two different results one on the Ravens Progressive Matrix showed that I had an IQ of 137 (in June 1977) and the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale was only 110 in (August 1988). Nothing to be proud in mental acceleration because allistic people can assume that you could take liberties with vulnerable people. etc. For some people there can be a sense of arrogance but again M.A is nothing to be arrogant about either.

Doubt it. You want to socialize, go to a bar. The problem with Mensa is that it's a slap on the back, not for achievement, but only for an inborn trait. All you need to join is an IQ, you don't have to use it. At least, that's my problem with it. My tested IQ is well above their requirement, but I have no interest in joining. I have better things to do than sit around and stroke my ego for being smart.
