Ha! Check that out; see what I mean? I have friends who are Jewish, and I don't even realize it.

I confess, I've always gotten confused over this distinction myself.
Oh, wait; this is not the "I confess..." thread... Hmmm... Well, what I said still holds. "Jewish" has always been a rather ambiguous term to me. Is "Jewish" a race, or a religion? Am I "Christian" by blood since my mum was? Is "Jewish" by blood the same as "Hebrew"? My mind boggles...
But, whatever; I stll wish you all the best...
Good fortune,

"Jewish" can be both, or either, race, as in a proven hiereditary link to the Israeli tribe of Judah, or religion as in both the above and personal or anchesteral line of conversion.
Hebrew would encompass all the 12 tribes of Israel of which Judah or the Jews is only one and is the only known surviving one, allthough some Jews would claim they are from the priestly tribe of Levi.
The 10 Northern Tribes of Israel where rejected by God due to thier unrepentant apostacy, leaving only the tribe of Judah, preistly Levites and I think some from the tribe of Benjamin.
Now some in the West like to think the Northern 10 or "Lost tribes of Israel" headed West and became the Western civilizations, they consider the better standard of life we have in the West to be an evidence of the continuing blessing of God, this is why you get a lot of non-Jewish Zionists, all hoping to become Gods chosen people again when the Lost Tribes are regathered back to Palestine.
So, if the above is indeed true, maybe we are all Hebrews so Happy Rosh HaShana to you all!
