Though I've tried a couple of times, I've never managed to learn it. As Monty Python said about sex on television, I keep falling off (or over, rather).

Learnt as a child with my father's help.
But soon lost interest. Cycled again for a few years to get to college, but I wasn't exactly steady, amazed I didn't get knocked off the way I sped round roundabouts.

I love cycling - it makes me feel free.

It did take me significantly longer than my peers to learn though, and it always takes me a while to get used to the 'feel' of a new / different bike.

Learning to ride a bike was somewhat difficult for my older son, but he really enjoyed riding it when he was a teenager.

Absolutely no problem learning to ride a bike with my younger, more severely affected, son. It's so interesting to see the differences in how children acquire skills.

I don't drive, and depend on a bike as my main mode of transportation. In my early 20's I was even a bike courier for a little while.

I like cycling. Especially going as fast as I can through the town and between moving cars, dangerour but It's the best adrenaline rush I get!
Sometimes I also like to cycle in as straigh a line as possible, or with no hands and steering by leaning.

i like riding bike, specially long distances carrying tent and other gears and spending the nights out and then going on pedaling for several days (60-120km per day)... but i have never been able to ride with no hands holding the handlebar... i remember having problems to learn how to ride, but i have no idea if it was more difficult with me than with other children. would have to ask my father.

I had no problem learning to ride a bike. In fact, I used to love mountain biking. But, everyone is different in some ways...

That sounds ace, Ive always wanted to get paniers for mine and do the same, but don't think I have the stamina.
If you are going to try no hands, make the bike as light as possible so no camping gear, and try it on flat ground pedaling evenly, It gets easier the faster tyou go as the bike like to keep a straight line

Just stop worrying and go for it... don't think too much about it :) weekend trips are nice enough... i like about it that i am far away from everybody and everything, just with my thoughts and relying on my abilities to solve any problem that shows up on the way, it can make you more self-confident to know that you can rely on yourself... what can happen in worst case? you just leave the bike and everything and flag down a car to get help :)

It was pretty easy for me cause I got to use training wheels when I first started. :)

Been riding since I was 5. Prefer it to driving (short distance, anyway), but in the city, bikes get stolen too much. So I walk.

I didn't learn to ride a bike until I was fifteen. 8O My mom had tried teaching me when I was younger, but I was scared to death of falling off and getting hurt. But I eventually did learn and I've only fallen off once (and it didn't hurt!).

I've learned to ride a bike, when I was six. I've started out with training wheels, and than they were taken off within four weeks.
