Hi to all. I was wondering if anyone perusing this site was in my area. I would like to talk online and maybe meet or something. This might sound silly but I have never met another Aspie Adult and I really think it would be, well, hmmmmmmmmmmmmm....don't know exactly, you know?
But necessary perhaps?
Thanks

Montreal isn't that far.... :-).
I have been interacting with Autism Canada recently. I went to a fund raiser/dance. They had two Aspie boys speak. The youger one (13) was outgoing and quite entertaining. The second gentleman was very intense, he was older. His mind seemed to be in Turbo mode at all times... mouth couldn't move fast enough. And the complex concepts he was trying to convey were leaving him frusterated. Not many in the room understood I think.

ANYWAYS....sorry I do rant......perhaps if there is something like this we could "check it out"?

Is this Toronto based? Where was the fund raiser/dance? I know of the social group through the Asperger's society but I was told that they are generally more severe cases than myself. The guy from the society felt I wouldn't get that much out of it.

It was in Barrie actually. My ex is very much involved with Aspergers. She has contacts etc. Support for both Aspies and NT parents, that sort of thing. And I believe a once monthly meeting of Parents. Bouncing ideas back and forth.

This was a silent auction/ enlightenment sort of thing. It was nice. I think I had a glass of wine too much and danced like a twit, but had fun. Would you like to know about the next one?

I am in Etobicoke.

Not at all active with any of the local chapter's. Emailed and called Asperger's Society of Ontario Several times without a reply. Popped into the Autism Speaks office once when I was at another appointment. Often consider going to the Geneva Centre workshops/groups for parents of, but have yet to do that also. I am super active in my facebook groups, WP, etc, but that is about it.

Fairly isolated from my social connections at the moment and tend to blame it one family responsibility more than anything, but I am sure my partner is craving social. *sigh*

I am due for an assessment of what I believe to be AS in myself, in 2 weeks time and my daughter, aged 9, was dx'd this past summer.
