No, I'm not narcisstic or a genius...

But I have been reading The Secret Life of Salvador Dali, and I relate to him in this way: he is the extreme version of myself. As in, if I were more confident, more daring, I would probably be more like him.

Mostly I relate to his intense pursuit of his passions, and his enjoyment - even exaltation - of his SOLITUDE. I think this is a rather Aspie thing to do.

Anybody else relate to Dali in any way?

Dali was an early obsession of mine, when I was about 15 or so.
I still find his work and him fascinating and i do have a fairly new book about him.

His paintings indicate a strong interest in dreams. I'm fascinated by my dreams as well.

A teacher gave me a book, Dalí (by Llongeras, his hair stylist), because she saw some of Dali's things in me, like laughing out of nothing, or being extremely shy, or very nervous.
Anyway, I think the same, if I were more confident I would also probably be more like him :)

Very good book. Fascinated by the fact that he had a very strict schedule, got up, painted, eated, painted some more, went to sleep.
I'd love to have known more about how he overcame his shyness, but maybe he never did?

I wonder if anyone can really relate to him.

Here's an odd fact about Dali. He was in Miami USA (1960's), in a pub having a good time when a portly bloke came up to him, and loudly asked "why's yer moustache like that?" Dali responded, "no moustache, ees antenna. I get messages coming in." He then waggled it to laughter all around. The bloke introduced himself, and it was none other than Jackie Gleason. Gleason like Dali, and even commissioned two paintings for up-coming albums he was recording. (Gleason recorded music albums.)

Strange but true...
