What Alex should do is require every member to pay $5.00 USD. (One time fee)

That would bring in $69,800.00 dollars to maintain the site.

That way he'd have enough to keep the site going and have extra as well.

Agreed. I'd say to not make it a requirement, but agree in having a lower option, the five dollars that you mention. It could help members to donate a small amount and maybe reach a bigger audience in WP.

I donated last year, but now with school and living alone has been hard. I'd like to donate again but well, maybe after I get some payments I'll be able to...

And well, restore the "premium member" tag, to make donators feel proud and "part of an elite" :)

I have to disagree with that, Alex is getting money to run this from somewhere, otherwise the site would have closed long ago

But don't we want to make sure it doesn't close? Perhaps we should arrange walkathons, going door to door with pledge sheets and all that, to raise money to run the site!

No, every penny I have is going to my baby. Before you ask- no I don't have 5 dollars a month to spare on a website.

This is mearly an idea. And not manditory. But keep in mind that even though Alex receives funding to maintain the site, those funds could at any time end (such as grant funding, etc). Then without funding. . .WrongPlanet would be gone. That all I was saying.

Wouldn't work. Would leave many excluded. Those below the age of 18 often don't have a card to use to pay with. Many adults don't have a card to pay online with, which is the only viable way I see it could be done given we are all from different countries. Optional is the best way as some simply wont have the means to pay this. I, for one, do not have a paypal account or a suitable card.

It's to bad that we can't send him money, straight from our bank accounts.

That as the bard would put "that is the rub". Let's hope that wherever Alex receives the funding from (whether from grants or ?) that it doesn't suddenly disappear.

If only there were a grant for graphic artists needing better software & hardware. But such a grant doesn't exist. . .that I know of.

I hope to win the 6/49, soon. I'd donate a quarter of my winnings to this site.

I would be concerned that the ship was about to go down if he waas relying on donations unless I could see some facts and figures. There fact of the matter is I'm sure it is possible to support a site like this with this much traffic, but there are diseconomies and bottlenecks that can happen.

Nothing should stop people from joining.

Those who can donate should.

This site has been very good for me.
