Why do NTs walk so slowly? Has anybody else noticed that?

I walk at least twice as fast as them, and always have to navigate around them as they get in my way by walking slowly. I mean if you are travelling somewhere why not go as fast as you can, to get there quicker.

It seems to me they take their good old sweet time with everything they do.

I have wondered this myself.

Walking along crowded pavements is irritating, everyone seems to be walking very slowly. I have even heard someone say to anothet person..."Gosh I am in such a hurry" whilst walking slow. That makes no sense.

I think people do that because if they are wanting to talk to others, walking fast makes it seem like they are in a hurry and have no time, where as walking slow, generally means that you are not hurrying anywhere so there for you seem more approachable.

Absolutly, sometimes when walking i pass others, sometimes groups of people and hear them say somethin stupid like: 'what is that guy's hurry?' or somethin along those lines.

I walk very fast, the more time I save, the more time I can spend doing other things.

Humph. I do get made fun of for walking fast, always have. I actually prefer walking to driving when possible.

We had a detached garage and lived in the country. I found it very annoying to have to spend all that time talking out there and back so I'd run if no one was around.

I remember when I was a kid and I'd be out with adults and other kids (either domestically, or at school) and I'd get accused of walking too slow and being a 'slow coach'. Now everyone tells me to slow down and that I walk too fast... I've had the same thing with my speech, it's gone from 'you talk too fast', has been through 'you talk too slow' only to arrive back at 'you talk too fast' again...

...one thing is sure, you cannot win when it comes to NTs. Clearly they have a pace all of their own and are only too inclined to notice if you do not keep in step (so to speak).

When I was a child, I would walk slower than everyone else, probably because I would observe everything that I came across.. At a particular point in my life I made a concious effort to walk fast, in order to get to my destinations as quickly as possible, and to keep myself fit. I really enjoy the stimulation that happens from running. I choose that over walking, every chance I get. Whenever I drive to a public place such as a store, I park at the far end of the parking lot so people are less likely damage my car with their careless use of shopping carts. It gives a nice excuse to run.

Run like the wind - It's more stimulating than a video game could ever be. As a former video game fanatic, rest assured, I know what I'm talking about.

I think this has more to do with physical condition than whether or not one has Asperger's.

Sometimes I walk very slowly, because my bag is heavy.

It's a bit irritating when people move like farm tractors, but I live with it.

I don't know how some people walk so slowly without falling over or stopping. The worst offenders seem to be groups of teenagers. I feel like telling them "Come on... it's not difficult... just put one foot in front of the other, and keep repeating it." Either that or, "Either hurry up or stop blocking my path! For God's sake, you've got 2 good legs!!"
The most annoying thing is when people think about something and stop. Come ON, it's not THAT hard to walk and think at the same time.

Just about everything I do is fast paced, so it could be just in my head that everyone else is slow. Maybe Im too fast.

It seems like everyone walks faster than me, its hard to keep up sometimes. My legs are always hurting, and when I walk they hurt more, and if I walk too fast, its almost as bad as running and it can cause severe pain after too much.
