I need to think on mine, but I am interested in how others would plan out their ideal bedroom/study...wherever they would spend most of their time. What you would have in it, and even where you would put everything...colour of walls, carpets etc...

Mine would be on the southeast corner, on an upper floor. It would have huge windows for the entire south wall, so the winter sun could warm the room and I'd have a nice view. I would furnish it with a porch swing that's as wide as a couch. It would have a particular smooth, hard, composite flooring that is dampened underneath (something my mom currently has at her house - I'd have to ask what it's called), and some rugs that roll up and out of the way. It would have storage for everything I use.

Mine would have a bed in it for me to sleep on.

Mine would be more organized and my clothes would be all in a closet instead of in a container and all my games and DVDs and books wouldn’t be in boxes and they be in their right categories and my CDs would be in alphabetical. I’d have up all my Benny and Joon posters and pictures all over my room. I am in the process of starting that collection. !0 dollars a month on Benny and Joon I decided. I have already spent 15 so wait till next two pay days before I have spending money.

Ok, get this... I love to cook... so i would want a similar theme to thw whole house.... A couch the color of graham crackers,, A brown coffee table that resembled a chocolate bar and some white ottomans that look just a little like marshmallows.. not exact looking replicas, but a subtle smore look. I would also like to have a steel papasan chair with a white cushion. I would put an artsy looking pillow that happened to resemble a green olive with pimento in the middle. I dont want it to look like a carnival, just a very subtle feel to the room that makes people crave smores and martinis.

Large room. Big, comfy desk with nice swivel chair, large double bed, balcony, bookcases, large plasma television, satellite TV, top specification computer with internet, mini fridge, ensuite bathroom, Playstation 3, and a big armchair for reading.

That would be my studio (or "study" if you must call it that), where I spend most of my time while at home. My bed would be in a completely different room, because I don't want to sleep in the same room that I hang out in. I haven't given any thought into how my bedroom would be. In my current house, I don't spend any time in my bedroom except when I sleep and when I change clothes. I'm currently planning to convert that room into a studio and move my bed into a smaller room.

I'd like a large study/studio with lots of natural light, so it would probably face south. I would have lots of cupboards all neatly arranged with art and crafts equipment and a large desk (light wood) with natural-light bulbs so I could do crafts stuff at night too.
I would have some large plants in there. But no phone because I wouldn't want to be interrupted. And a 'do not disturb' sign on the door (that people took notice of :))

My study:

Quiet, neat, spacious, with big, sound-proofed windows (preferrably a bay window) and indirect light. French doors that lead out to the rest of the house. View of something natural, like some trees or a garden. S place for my cat to sleep, so he's not fighting for space with the keyboard on the computer table. A full set of the OED, plus all of Shakespeare's plays and various other "must have" books. High speed internet access. A bitchin' pimped-out 17" screen notebook running on something other that Vista, with peri keyboard and mouse attached for easier use. HD Tv in the corner with a dual DVD/Blu Ray player. A comfy, high back chair with arm rests.

Hard wood floor and a spiffy area rug with a geometric design. My artwork and my collection of "inspirational" momentos on the walls, which would be painted something deep and soothing, like a dusty rose or purple. A comfy chaise. A place to put my food and drink so it doesn't end on on the keyboard of notebook.

Central A/C and heat. No telephone.

My bedroom:

Used only for sleeping. A sort of industrial-meets-classic romantic style of decor. King-sized bed, low to the ground. Lots of pillows. A maid to change the linens. French doors that lead out to a balcony or patio space. A lot of indirect, natural light. Walls painted something light and cool, like slate grey. Metal bed frame. Hard wood flooring with solid dark red area rug. A vanity with chair and space for all my "weird" beauty stuff. A HD TV in a hide-away amoire, so I don't have to see it when I'm not using it.

i thought about these things quite a lot before... i always come down to having one large general-purpose type of room and a few specialized ones like bathroom or kitchen.

whether or not id like to have my bed in that room i dont know... id certainly like it to be close to it, but not necessarily directly in the room. maybe having an appropriately-sized niche in the room that can be closed with a curtain if necessary. nah, on second thought, i love watching tv from my bed way too much. no way the bed could be out of that room. :) (two tvs isnt really an option, as the tv is inevitably linked to video game consoles, and having them double... would be expensive and id need to walk back and forth to get the games i want to play to where i want to play them)
other than that: lots of bookshelves. a corner of comfortable sofas with a small table, facing tv and stereo. separate table with computer and surface for reading/drawing.
style wise, id opt for white walls and dark, almost black parquet floor. <3

practically speaking, a sofa/bed combo would probably be very practical. on the other hand, i pretty much use my bed as sofa right now and its pretty great, so i could just continue that tradition as its kinda cool. a larger bed than i have now (standard size) would be comfortable. :)

i still ponder whether to have fitness equipment in the room or not. i guess rather not (but close nearby, definitely in range of the stereo) because weights will damage the expensive parquet (falling barbell O_o), movement around a heavy bag would be quite suboptimal and its not the best surface to skip rope on either. thats quite sad because i think a solid black leather heavy bag makes nice decoration.
but i still guess that this is left for a close-nearby room: slightly padded floor, heavy bag (black, leather, long enough for lowkicks), a power rack, bench and barbell (plus two dumbbells), space enough to allow for movement around the bag or skip rope.

the main room, however, should be sleek and simple in design, furniture matching. id love to have an own room for keeping clothes instead of a wardrobe.
