Going to Richmond Park on Christmas day with my sister. Just having a walk around in the crisp air, woods, grasses and bracken an hour, in order to get the out way of the Christmas meal preparations. It is really peaceful and I love going just with her. Two's company three's a crowd.
It was funny last year when she had brought my dad's fleece bob hat and had it in her pocket at the start. We went on our merry way and it was only till we were ready to make our way back did she realize it had fallen out and she had no idea how long it had been missing. She was a little embarrassed because she doesn't like a reputation of the one that loses things, that's my role We had to retrace our steps including through some thick brush. When we got to the woods we didn't think we would be able to retrace our route and also there was a lot of ground matter so there good chance we would miss it, so we bowed to go round it. I had an idea I would be able to have a better idea of where we went from where we entered rather than in reverse. So I eventually convinced her to go in a little once we came to where we originally entered. Low and behold it was about 10 yards in, where we had stopped previously because a hare was darting in an out of the bushes in order to collect the last of the food. There were still some other animals around on our walk even in the height of winter such as s deer and the famous colony of escaped parakeets.
I also like cooking a relaxed meal with a few friends a some days before the New Year. Although last year I focused too much on the details of an intricate meal and it was too formal. I didn’t really think about entertainment side, (it was my first time cooking a meal for anyone but bar family, except for some salads for picnics) and spent a lot of time in the kitchen. This year we are all sort of helping out with the food so it is more fun. Plus we won’t be having Gary Rhodes style dishes except maybe a starter that is not too complicated. My friend is my trusty sous chef. She says ‘Yes Chef!’ and everything and I never even asked her too . My other friend is good for pealing and chopping things.
On New Years Eve I like to stay in all on my own, relaxing. I might watch Jools Holland’s Hootenanny. The great thing is there is usually no one in the neighbourhood. So hopefully there won’t be anyone having a house party too near this year. I’ve never like New Years Eve festivity much, there is a lot of pressure to go out an fit in especially growing up. My way is sort of the antidote to when I was a kid and was trying to be normal and ended up being unconscious and lying in my own waste till New Years Day’s Eve. Then I had to sick it all up to get it out of my system.

I really don't like how hectic it is and how people go slightly crazy especially on the high street. I don't like the shopping at all. I can't be in a shop with too many people pushing and shoving. It is hard to concentrate. I will try to buy stuff on line. I do sometimes find it hard to sit down during a long meal with my attention, especially accompanied by the neurosis of a certain family member.
