With the exception of this post, I'm ignoring these holidays. They don't interest me. I'm not close to my family and neither is my boyfriend. Neither of us are religious. He's even going to work tomorrow.

Anyway, I just want to say that I don't think there's anything wrong with ignoring holidays. And happy winter to everyone who's sitting at home, doing nothing for the next couple of days.

Here are some pictures in celebration of winter.

Thanks for the lovely winter pictures, EvilKimEvil. Just so. I will be sitting home, indulging myself and ignoring the holidays. I already acknowledged Winter Solstice, and this other stuff is getting no air time.

Nope, sorry - it doesn't do it for me.

It's summer here in Australia. :)

I can't believe I forgot about the Southern Hemisphere! Well, happy summer to everyone south of the Equator!

Good. You shouldn't need any cheering up, then.

There's nothing happy about Winter at all. I think that's why the holidays were conceived (for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, at least). Unfortunately, the conceivers weren't thinking of us aspergeans.

Maybe not, but once, just once, I'd love to have a white Christmas.

I loved the winters in Faribanks, Alaska.
I don't enjoy them here in California unless we're in the mountains playing in the snow.

I do like your winter pictures... they remind me of Alaska and New Mexico.. especially the cabin shot which really reminds me of the little cabin my wife and I shared when we first got to Fairbanks.

My daughter and I went this weekend and Monday to the mountains and played in the snow.. she on skis me on snowboard.
We bumped into a couple of friends there too which made it more fun.

We did our little Christmas thing yesterday and that was enough for me.

I decided I'd send New Year's gifts to my family... less pressure on me since I'll just send them local food products.

Winter is my favorite season. Too bad there is hardly any snow in my region.

Happy solstice (albeit several days late...)! The shortest day's always a huge bump for me to get over, way up here at 52 degrees north latitude. I call 'em the "seven darkest days", and have a little internal celebration when the days start getting longer again. Man wasn't meant to live in the dark. :D

I could never ignore the holidays, I enjoy them too much.
