This is my personal long-term goal:
Everything I mention below will be made of steel-reinforced cement, and some surfaces (counters, toilets, etc) will be coated with stainless steel. Kitchen sink hoses, appliances, everything is steel-reinforced concrete, except the fire hoses, which can't be. Everything is part of the building; fixed.
Each building is to have:
-rampwells, not stairwells
-Every second floor is a utility floor. There are no utility pipes, boxes or wires behind the walls. The walls are just steel-reinforced concrete, nothing hidden. All utilities go into and come out of the floor to/from the utility floor below, except for the light fixtures whose pipes and wires come out of the ceiling from the utility floor above.
-All pipes have doors along every inch of them, to access their insides. There are hot water pipes, cold water pipes, used water pipes, pipes containing electric wires, gas pipes, pipes containing telephone lines, pipes containing internet and TV cable lines, every kind of utility has its own pipe to protect it. Stormdrains lead directly down into the utility floor, no pipes; you can see the utility floor when you look down thru the stormdrain. The pipes go down the sides of the utility floor, the stormdrains are over the center of it, so no one workin on the pipes will get doused!
Every room, corridor and hallway in the complex is to have:
-stormdrains in the floor with removable grates and removable solid covers
-as many windows as practically possible, as large as practically possible, with solid doors on the inside and grate doors on the outside.
-a box for emergency items, including a fire hose inlet and a fire hose, a first aid kit, parachutes for the 10th floor and up, axes, hammers, etc
-a waste receptacle with 8 big holes where you can put wastebaskets in... labeled "PAPER", "GLASS", "PLASTIC", "METAL", "COMPOST", "CHEMICALS-- IN APPROPRIATE CONTAINERS PLEASE", "ITEMS TO GIVE AWAY", "OTHER".
-a wall-to-wall grid attached at the walls (but part of the room), over every inch of the ceiling with lots of hooks for hanging things
-cement plant boxes where practical and grow lights
-light fixtures in the ceiling that has optional candle holders, kerosene lamp, gas inlet, electric sockets for bulbs, etc for different lighting options
There will be a club for basically every subject in the world.
There will be a building for each major club-- all the portals on Wikipedia. Arts, Natural and physical sciences, geography, history, etc.
We will use Wikipedia to find all the subjects for the clubs. And as a model for our buildings and which club will go where.
Like the portals and sub-portals and sub-sub-portals and sub-sub-sub-portals and so on on Wikipedia, we will have clubs and sub-clubs and sub-sub-clubs and so on.
Each club and sub-club and sub-sub-club and so on, aside from each of ITS sub-clubs and so on, will have one big meeting room, big enough to put anything and everything in it related to the club's subject, containing:
-at least 1 computer with the internet
-a phone line
-an internet cable
Bathrooms with:
-Toilet stalls, each with: a toilet paper dispenser, and a toilet with one 3-litre tank and one 6-litre tank; each can flush the bowl, and each has its own flush handle. Also, a bidet with a faucet and a side-spray, and separate taps for them, with hot and cold water, a soap dish, a soap dispenser, a paper towel dispenser, towel rack, clean towel box, used towel box, wastebasket
-A long counter with lots of space between the sinks, which are in the counter and part of the counter so that dirt can easily be washed off the counter into the sinks. The counter has a raised, spillguarding rim. Each sink has a soap dish, soap dispenser. The whole wall behind the sink counter is a stainless steel mirror, polished in a way that makes it as good as any other mirror
-Paper towel dispensers and wastebaskets
-Electric hand dryers
-lockers, each with 1 hook on each side wall and one at the back, 2 top shelves and two bottom shelves
-Shower/bath stalls with roll-in bath/shower pits in the floor, with a ramp that goes down into it, a shampoo dispener, a soap dispenser, a conditioner dispenser, lots of cagelike shelves on the walls for holding things, a drain plug chained the the wall, a soap dish, a bench outside the bath, a bench inside the bath, outside the bath a clean-towel boxand a used-towel box and a towel rack
A kitchen with:
-a fireplace with the chimney going outside thru the top of the wall, a stormdrain with a removable cover (chained to the wall) inside the bottom of the fireplace, a section with racks for cooking stuff and poles for hanging pots to cook, the mantelpiece is a shelf, and next to the fireplace, chained to the wall, a pitchfork, a poker, a shovel-thing, and the other fireplace tools.
-counter with a raised spillguarding rim and large 3-basin sinks, in the counter so that stuff can easily be washed off the counter into the sink, and part of it, each with 3 large (not too large) equally-sized basins, a pull-out hose, plugs and removable strainer baskets chained to the wall, soap dispenser, soap dish, towel rack, clean towel box, used towel box, electric dishwasher, electric dryer, paper towel dispenser, wastebasket, each sink has some space BEHIND it for six stackable dish racks, which are chained to the wall on a long enough chain so that they can be put in any of the three basins in the sink. The 6-piece dish rack has a a strainer in it, as well as a place for everything, from eating utensils and cooking utensils to pots and pans to glasses and cups to plates and bowls and anything else. Under each sink where the three drain pipes meet in one pipe is an optional garburator.
-a long long long table
-counters all around the room, with every appliance that exists-- food processor, toaster, toaster oven, blender, eggbeater, can opener, all other kitchen appliances, and many outlets
Anything else to add?
