"pick your brain" It brings up images of things beings stuck in brains...it makes me feel sick.

what phrases do you hate?

"yes dear" I hate hate hate that blasted phrase!

"You are what you eat."

"When life hands you a bag of lemons..."

"How are you doing?"
"What's up?"
"How's your day?"

I have an accent, so people ask me the same questions all the time
"Where are you from?", and if I answer it, it spirals even further downhill.
"Are you here for school?"
"What brought you here?" etc. etc.

"You better believe it."

Since learing more about AS I hate anything with the wod Gist in it.

"you get the gist of it."

In fact in my next sci fi puppet film the villians are named the Gist.

i hate a lot of phrases...

in fact i hate many of the phrases posted on here, already.

"guesstimate"

... not sure if that counts as a phrase, but someone can say "I guess" or "ill make a rough estimate" but when someone says that to me I just tend to think its such a stupid thing to say for some reason.

"Grow up!" No, I'm not going to grow up. I'm not giving up on my older children's movies, especially the animated ones, and I will not stop buying my toy Routemaster replicas. You grow up and realize that some people with AS, might be childlike, but it's usually the NTs who are childish! I don't want to grow up...I want to be a Toys R Us Kid. Imagine what that store would have been like, if it was around, in the 1960s. Corgi Routemasters, everywhere, throughout the Boy's Section!

"The Smaller, Weaker Sex." I'm a woman. No, I'm not small, nor am I weak. Let's keep it, that way. I'd rather look like Sid, than Twiggy, any day. That's only because, I'm naturally built like Sid, though. I'd like to weigh 170 lbs, though and that's still 30 lbs heavier than my dad. I want to stay big, and strong to an extent.

"A bad accent." If an Eastern Canadian accent is a bad one, my Cockney accent must be pretty good, according to my sister. That's a stupid thing to say, if you have a family member, who had just started to accept and love their unusual accent, seven years ago.

Most business jargon and military euphemisms. Especially 'collateral damage'.

"You must forget the past and move on"

Why must we forget the past ? If we had bad experiences we
will have learned something from them and if we had good experiences then surely we want to cherish the memories.
And why the modern obsession with 'moving on' by ruthlessly
dumping friends at the slightest excuse without making an effort
to heal any rifts.

"Stretch yourself."

*connects one arm to a pack of horses, and the other arm to another pack of horses and makes a very loud noise that causes them to go galloping off*
