Math and Logic topics

Since I know your age, young man I would say if you knew the answer to #3 you are very smart.

These logic questions are the type I analyze very carefully by tearing them apart. I work them out on paper as if I am trying to teach them to someone.

Some very bright people can do them mentally.

0_equals_true is the poster who got it right. eddiedog8, you gave a little of the answer away with multiple choices. How kind of you.

John is 12 years old. Therefore he is 8 years older than his brother. Twice 8 equals 16. The answer, 16 years, is one of the choices, so you can check. None of the other choices given can be divided equally by two and still conform to the rule that John is eight years older than his brother. This is why 20 is not the right answer.

Sorry, I like to analyze simple things. This is how I tutor public and high school kids, mostly NTs, in order to give them analyzing skills.

#2 - Animal

Snake is a reptile, the rest are mammals.
Rabbit is an animal.
John will be 16 and his brother 8.

Several answers are possible. E.g.:
Bear - is also a verb while all others are not (or as far as my knowledge of English goes)
Snake - is a reptile while all others are mammals.
Cow - is strictly a herbivore while all others are either carnivores or omnivores
Dog - is the only one that can be domesticated and potty-trained
Tiger - is the only animal that isn't afraid of the other animals on the list :)

Animal (rabbit)

Umm... is that even possible?
Oh wait. What if John dies and so - technically - stops aging. Then after a certain period of time his age will only be twice that of his brother. The soonest for that to happen would be if John died at his current age, 12. At the beginning his brother would be 4, but after two years have lapsed, his brother would be 6 and the late John would be only twice as old as his still alive brother. So my answer would be: at least 12. But that's not on the list. So I guess I don't know the answer.

Thinking outside the box topic!!

I like everyone's answers here, and busy91's, and Nafydalgol's analyses were superb. My answers and analysis were the typical ones. I think eddiedog8 is smiling, like the canary who ate the cat!!

Great forum!

2 & 3 I did in my head in a matter of seconds. I can get things that have only one answer most of the time.

1 perplexes me, as I thought Snake because it is the only one that is cold blooded. And doesn’t have fur.

Good going Nafydalgol!

Thanks! :D

Hey, wait... what if John were to remain motionless while his brother travels at almost light speed. Then from John's point of view his brother would be aging much more rapidly, and after a certain period of time (depending on his brother's exact speed, compared with that of John) John's age would only be twice that of his brother. Or was it the other way round?
...I'm at a complete loss here. :?

1: Snake (Is the only non-mammal)
2: Animal (Rabbit)
3: 16 ( 12/3 = 4 4*2 = 16)
I win! I showed my work!! !
