Hello,

I am flying into London (Heathrow) on January 7th, then flying out of Gatwick to Portugal on January 8th.

Just in time for a 24 hours strike affecting Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

I will fly out from Brisbane, then am supposed to have a 6 hours stop over at KL airport (Malaysia). I suspect the 6 hours stopover will be more like a 30 hour stop over.

I look upon this as an adventure.

But I need suggestions (apart from reading and going on the internet) - how can I entertain myself for 30 hours in an airport?

I look forward to humerous and creative suggestions!

Helen

Besides the bar, bring body wipes to freshen up, a good book, some puzzle games, your cel charger and cash for snacks. Oh, and a pillow and blanket. You are brave…

People watching is fun, but it probably won't last you 30 hours.

I load books in my cellphone, not the best screen to read, but takes zero space with you :)

Also got some games in my cellphone (actually a lot hehe)

Try asking if there are any interesting places near the airport so you can pass the day there.

Sleep.

Music, lots of music.

I considered some belly-dancing to entertain others stranded with me ..... but in a Muslim country this may not go down well!

I am a physiotherapist and good at massages.

Maybe I can make some money charging weary travellers to fix their sore necks/backs!

I really hate airports, and would hate it to be stranded there that long. That was pretty humorous, what you said about giving massages and charging for them, though! I could just see that...

Bring a laptop with WiFi, correct adapter, and stay on Wrong Planet while having the world's longest cup of coffee. :coffee:

I once spent part of a stopover and the entire next leg of a journey befriending a family with two kids, one of whom was obviously ASD. "Instant Aunty." :D We all had a enjoyable time.

And don't forget: stay hydrated, and move around heaps!

Is this a holiday Smelena? What are you going to Portual for?
I've only done a couple of hours at Singapore airport, I think you just have to become a window shopper, there should be lots of shops there hopefully. Maybe a shower/change of clothes. Depending on the time of day, a nap, if you can manage one.

I'm going for a holiday .... an amazing holiday .... leaving the 3 sons and husband behind!

A good friend moved to Portugal 18 months ago so I'm going to spend a couple of weeks visiting her - she will show me around Portugal and parts of Spain.

Then I'm off to Paris for 4 nights (staying in a Youth Hostel).

Then London for 2 nights (staying in a Youth Hostel). I'm meeting up with a few WrongPlanet folk in London.

Then back home.

I can't wait.

For the loooooong stopover in Kuala Lumpur I've splurged and paid for 6 hours in the Premium Plaza Lounge (at 17 pounds!). There are showers, free internet acces, comfortable lounges, free tea and coffee and ........ the best part ...... a free 15 minute seated massage!
