Hi there Cockney Rebel.

What should come down the main road next to the road I live on this morning? A Routemaster (RM9) with a wedding part on, going to the Register Office.

I took a quick couple of photos on my mobile, with you in mind!

Hope you enjoy.

My other half said if he and I were to marry (not happening as neither of us believe in marriage) he would hire me a Routemaster :o)

May I ask why you love Routemasters so much? Is it an AS obsession/fixation?

Yes. I've been obsessed with them, since I was five. I like how their classic design screams, London! I also like how their side-advert pannels give each of them their own Personalities. I like their front Grilles and the curve on the tops of their backs. I also like how they appear to be smiling. Routemasters seemed to have faces. I like the open Platform at the back, and the Pole with the Bell that goes Ding! Ding! I also like the Brake Grilles on the first production models that give the Buses the appearance of having rosey cheeks. I also like how the conductors would keep an eye on everything, and that's why I love Routemasters, so much.

Ding! Ding!

Hmm, they do look like they're smiling.

I wonder what a sad bus would look like.

Recently Conducter Cockney has gotten a liking for cleaning things. I suggested cleaning Routemaster stuff so that her Routemaster obsession doesn't fade away (if ever).

If the US ever legalizes same-person marriage, I would marry myself on a Routemaster.

Hi Cockney Rebel
I just looked up your profile and noticed you are female.
I assumed you were male perhaps because of your rather blokey username.

Apologies for that

BTW a big pink Routemaster would be ideal for the wedding.
My brother used a big pink London cab.

Quite the pic ! ! Luved the front, Hey Tequila, there ya go, mate. Happy Wedding day ! !

By the way, CockneyRebel, were the Routemasters the ones that had (or have) a Bentley engine?? There's an old story about Ettore Bugatti remarking that he thought W.O. Bentley made splendid busses ! !!

Spotted again in Battersea today!

I was a bus spotter in London in the early 60s when the first RMs were on the streets.

My uncle had his civil partnership not too long ago, and he was taken to the register office in this:
