Anyone else do this?

Sometimes I'm so wrapped up in something that even if I have to go to the bathroom, I'll just put it off.

Then the little signals come back.... and I put it off.

Then I start doing the 'potty dance' whether I'm sitting (like now) or standing... and I put it off.

FINALLY I decide to just get up and go... luckily with no accidents! :P

I mean, I'm 47 and I'm STILL doing this same thing... 40+ yrs later!

At work I'll tell the crew I'm heading to the potty.
Then 5 minutes, 7 minutes, 15 minutes later, someone will say, "I thought you were going to the bathroom?".

"Oh yeah! I'm going, in just a minute!"

Is this ADD/HD or just bad parenting/potty training?

I'm not scared of the bathroom... it's long been a place I can sit in peace & quiet (sometimes with the lights off) with no one to bother me.

Guess I didn't have anything else to write tonight... sorry!

And.. oh yeah! I've got to go..................................

I thought I was the only one who was like that! Except I actually have accidents if I postpone the urge...

Hey, I embarrass myself enough around here without mentioning something like that!

Most of the time when I do this, I'm not doing anything THAT important as to put off such a natural and important bodily function.

I really think it's my ADD/HD.
I tend to forget about it consciously until my body reminds me again or I keep getting these frequent interruptions telling me to go now but I just can't tear myself away from what's holding my attention.

I'm lucky I've never gotten a bladder infection from it, I guess.
Aren't women prone to bladder infections if they hold off peeing for long periods of time?
I've always heard women have better sphincter control than men.

It just gets annoying sometimes when I have such a hard time breaking away from something just to go potty.

I could appreciate it better if I were doing something like flying a small plane, or riding on the city bus, etc.
But that's not the usual case I'm talking about.

Anyway, I'm sure this thread will be buried pretty quickly... probably a good thing too... :P

Goodness gracious! I do it too, always have ever since I was a baby. I often have to force myself to go at convenient times so I don't hold it in until it's too late. I'm glad my parents taught me "to go before we leave [on a long trip/for a prolonged event]", I'd have never survived with my dignity intact otherwise.

I sometimes do this if i'm engaged in an obsession...otherwise, I just go to the loo. I've never done it to the point of wetting myself though...well not since I was a toddler.

I often use it as an incentive to finish what I'm doing.... ie: You can't go until your code compiles without errors.
