Next time you think your problems are important, have a look at an image like this:
http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap070719.html

Look at the number of galaxies in that tiny section of the sky, and realize that a galaxy has from 10 million to one trillion stars in it. Considering that the entire planet Earth is a speck in comparison to our own Sun, how do you rate on the importance scale, when considering this quantity of galaxies?

Oh, and consider that there are estimated to be more than one hundred billion galaxies.

I am more important, because I am doing the rating.

Also, since there is a three point five Kelvin background radiation in all directiona around me, I conclude I truly am at the center of it all.

They aren't important, expect to me and the small number of people who care about me.

I forgot to include this one:

Try finding an object in there that isn't a galaxy. ;)

pwned

The map of the entire universe is a lot more boring because the darn thing is really quite homogeneous on the large scale. I always had this wonderful image that if you zoomed out far enough you'd find it nested in the Mandelbrot Set...

Isn't John Galt the ex-Starfleet captain who could shape shift? and who is Ron Paul, and Why should I Google him?

until then....

hanging out in the Sagittarius arm, Local cluster, Sol, Earth, North America...;)

I feel everyone on Earth and all life forms in the Universe needs to start considering how I feel and work to solve my problems RIGHT NOW!!

HEHE of course I am BS'n. Indeed, the universe is vast, but I always beleived it was finite. Time and Space may be infinite, but matter/energy? I just cannot imagine what absolute empty space might look like. How does space that is infinite come to be, and time. Maby time is not infinite maby it starts at the moment the big bang or whatever occures? Then again, if time was finite then how could their have been a big bang? Time would be required to cause the singularity to explode right? I dont know... so many questions. Humans could potentally habit the Earth for a few more Billion years, probably not much longer. I doubt even then we will truly know, assuming we are around that long.

Indeed, looking at the big picture, all the problems of Earth, humans are insignificant really. I think pictures like this should be hung in the UN to remind diplomats and world leaders that the great national crisis's, economys, wars, power, whatever simply is nothing in comparison. Seeing pictures like this really makes me wish all of humanity, all the nations of the world can come together to end war, poverty, violence, hunger, and really work together to stop global warming, to spread the wealth, to care and respect one another and to work together to solve the mysteries that may plague man kind for ever.

Toe: That is a nice picture. I love when there is an unexpected correspondence in patterns.

PS: How did you get to the Sagittarius arm, pakled? 8O
