If you could see any part of history happen, what thing would you pick and why?

For me there's only really one answer and I'd love to see the big bang happen. It'd be the single most amazing thing to ever witness in my opinion. Provided I'd be in no danger witnessing it :P There's so many interesting things throughout history and hopefully some of you will say some other things I'd like to see :)

Maybe go to one of Hitler's speeches back in the 1930's. I keep reading that his charisma helped him rise to power, but I would like to see it for myself.

It would also help me out on my project...

I'd go to the 50s. And stay.

I think I would like the opportunity to see for myself just what exactly Countess Elizabeth Bathory was REALLY up to.

If, that is, I could avoid becoming one of her victims.

If she was actually killing people.

I'd go back to the early 90s and convince my grandfather not to marry that stupid, evil woman who was young enough to have been his kid.

Oh well. I guess I couldn't do that by just watching. :(

Being able to speak German would be somewhat necessary too.

Oh wait, yes, I'd also:
* Go back to the 90s, and figure out what the hell I was doing the day Richey Edwards disappeared
* Go back to the 90s and buy Mysterio by Ian McCulloch
* Go back to the 90s, and listen to Rust by Echo & The Bunnymen

Back to when God was doing that creationist crap, I have a few changes in mind that I'd like to see implemented.
Also, I would have liked to party with early Einstein.

Jerusalem, around the time of Joseph of Arimathea, Pontius Pilate, and Herod the Great, in the neighborhood of the "Place of a Skull".

I'd like to see just how "hot" Mary Magdalene rally was.

There are so many...

It would be pretty neat to see Shakespeare's plays as they were originally performed.

I'd love to watch the development of aviation from the late 1800's through 1912 or so (Up until Cal Rodgers met his untimely demise)

The Pre-Cambrian Explosion would be really neat. Think of all the critters you could look at. Some of them might even taste good!

It would also be nifty to interview people on either side of the issue of the American Revolution and the American Civil War.

This is one of those questions where I would probably answer differently depending on my mood. Today, I think I will pass on seeing something of the magnitude of the Atomic Bomb or the creation of earth. I will pick something a little more relaxing. Here they are:

Early 1900s Paris to see Erik Satie.
New York in 1964 to go to the World's Fair.
Crystal Beach, Canada in 1927 to ride the Cyclone roller coaster.
At my house in 1946 to see the family that lived here then (year my house was built).

Ok...ok...ok...maybe there are some things I am really curious about:

February 1957 in Philadelphia---to see who dumped the "Boy in the Box" so that that mystery of this most unfortunate child (who may have been autistic) may be solved. To this day, he is known as "America's Unknown Child." This story is upsetting to me.

Amityville, New York in November of 1974 to find out what really happened during the DeFeo murders. Did Ronald DeFeo act alone. Could those gunshots be heard or not? Then I would like to transport to December of 1975 to see the Lutz family move in the Amityville house and see what kinds of things were going on---which prompted the Amityville Horror.

Mount Everest in early June 1924 with George Mallory and Andrew Irvine to see if they actually reached the summit of Mount Everest three decades before Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay.

Dallas, Texas in November 1963 to closely watch to see if there were other shooters involved in the Kennedy assassination. I could have multiple movie cameras set up pointed in every direction imaginable to try to capture anything unusual. I would definitely keep my on the book depository to see what Oswald was doing during those fateful moments.

There are so many things I would like to see, but these come to mind right now.

Well...ok, one more:

I am not wanting to start any kind of religious debate here because everyone has the right to his or her own beliefs. And I will not participate in debates on it on this post. But due to my beliefs in my faith of Christianity, I would love to see Jesus during his teachings.

I would love to experience the theatre of ancient Rome. Also witness the ancient Olympic Games.
