Trying to find your grandfather's birth info...

He was born in Maine .
I do not have a computer , and , basically , have NO money .
I'm not sure whether it was Portland or Bangor .

Just kind of curious as to how you are on WP without a computer? :)

But you could use a library computer to try to find it online (kind of tough with no money though) or ask family members if they have a book about your family. I know my family has a book that goes from the ~1800's to my dads generation and has birth info and a few other things.

The Mormons keep a real good library of families here in the U.S., although I'm not sure that would help with your Grandfather.
I believe their information is pretty good for generations like Great-Great-Grandparents.

You can go to the library in San Francisco and check with the reference desk to find out the information for the Vital Statistics Office in Maine.
Then contact them to see what type of information you are allowed to get on him.

...At a library , now , and I have litte-to-know surviving family on that side .
