They bombarded an epilepsy support forum with flashing animated gifts and used java code to redirect users browser to a site with more complex images, which caused many people to have seizures, or experience intense pain/migraines. What's really scary though, as that while rare, people can die from seizures brought on this way. And much less rare, people could have, and likely did, get hurt, as a result of convulsing and falling off the chair/bed/etc they were sitting on at the time

*The offending posts and messages about it have been deleted from the EF website, but the topic title and first sentence or so, will appear if you search the website using terms such as "flashing"

I read that yesterday and i hope they catch them. They probably wont do so well in prison. But knowing our government they will probably be too busy hunting down people downloading music off of limewire.

Yeah. But the good thing is, depending on the way the laws about cyber crimes are written, these people could be charged with attempted murder. Which will make this case a greater priority.

unfortunately, the likelihood of that happening isn't great, but if one of the people affected decides to sue the hackers, the publicity garnered will probably change the laws regarding such "crimes" and the people who did this will hopefully be as affected as the myspace suicide woman
