Suppose someone you know leaves an ipod around...in your car, in your house, etc. The musical taste of every person is different, and what that person has loaded is considered unique to themselves. Would it be considered rude to turn it on and listen to the music that person has loaded onto it? Is listening to someone else's ipod without them knowing the same as looking in their medicine cabinet, or rifling through a woman's purse, or is it no different than looking through the stack of CD's sitting on top of that person's stereo?

It wouldn't bother me at all. I'd consider it akin to looking through my cd's and sliding one into the player.

Of course, I also tend to look through ppl's phones.

If the person is close enough, it should be alright. Maybe even flattering to some extent. :)

I think it would depend on the individual.
I wouldn't mind.
I don't even care if a person gives me an opened CD for a gift... opened because they wanted to listen to it before they gave it to me.
I know it's not the same thing you are talking about though.

Aside from the music there could be other issues...

iPods can hold personal notes, pictures, videos and I think those should be off-limits.

Another reason not to use someone's mp3 player without their permission would be because of battery life. That would only matter if you played it long enough to run down the battery to the point that they didn't have the charge on it they were expecting when they got it back.

Just my opinions though...

Anothers personal music selections, can provide insight into "who" that person is, beyond normal interaction. I know, my favorite music playlist, is a direct reflection of my personality/ who I am. Proper interpretation, will provide another with a fairly accurate map of my life/beliefs. Of course, this basically applies to those who love music(of some type).

Wouldn't bother me, I like music of almost any genre.... there's bound to be something on my iPod that they are gonna like.

Doesn't bug me though people make fun of my musical taste.

I'd love it if someone turned my iPod on and listened to it. They'd find out why I am the way that I am. :O)

Personally, I'd be happy to have someone listen to my iPod. I want to share my music with others.

I would be happy if someone did decide to listen to my ipod, as long as they asked permission first.

I'd hate it. I like to keep my battery fully charged at all times and it is very rude to listen to someone's iPod without the owner's permission. A lot of kids at my school like to listen to the music on my iPod (I apparently have very good taste lol), but they're always nice enough to ask first. I don't know if I'm just being greedy and selfish or what, but I've always been this way with my things. I also always have that fear that something horrible's going to happen to them- even right in front of me. So yeah, I'm very protective over my stuff. The more expensive it is, the more so I am.

No-one ever asks me, not only because I don't have an iPod, but because I have a PSP to listen to my music with. I just don't think they can figure out the Cross Media Bar wahoozits.
