I fell over at the weekend and had to take a quick trip to A&E, and had it x-rayed, I have it in a cast and sling, and are typing with one hand...

You fell over and broke your arm? It must have been one hard, or very awkward fall!

I've never broken a bone in my body so have no idea what it feels like, but I can imagine it being annoying typing with one hand.

Do you have it in a cast or just a sling?

Are you gonna let us all sign the cast now?

Did you get plaster or fiberglass?

Keep a coathanger (not sure what you call them across the pond) handy to scratch the itching that starts up in a week or two

And I hope you don't have access to cast cutting tools like I did!

I worked in a hospital emergency room as a tech and late at night I was by myself... the doctor was upstairs sleeping.. the nurse supervisor was making her rounds... so I'd haul out the cast saw and do a bit of trimming on mine.

But the time I went back to my doctor for a checkup all I had left was a little bitty cast around part of my hand and barely covering my wrist.... HE WAS PISSED!

It originally covered my hand (I had pins in my thumb) and up to my elbow.

I told him it kept getting in my way so I trimmed it a bit.

Anyway... about 6 weeks huh? Until you get it off, that is.
Hope the healing goes well and everything turns out just dandy for you.

Gizmo,
assuming are completely verbal/non speech impaired, what about trying speech recognition software,as it would mean no typing?
found this one through wikipedia:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/speech2text

Bad luck.I broke my hand once and apart from the pain there was the difficulty of doing
simple things.I discovered it's impossible to use a can opener with only one hand !
Hope your recovery goes well.
