...other people's sarcasm?

I sure do. Particularly the written kind.

I write my sarcasm is italics so it's easy to tell when I'm being sarcastic
And yes, poorly written sarcasm is hard to pick up on...

I've got better at picking up on sarcasm, and I sometimes hand out a dollop or two of irony myself. I still sometimes miss sarcastic comments, and feel incredibly stupid afterwards. Here, I usually say something like 'JOKE,' or use this emoticon:  after a sarcastic comment, just in case my sarcasm was too subtle for my own good.

Sometimes I miss other people's sarcasm, even if I like to use it myself far too much.

Sarcasm can be looked at as funny or another form of bullying.

Even I'm guilty of it that's why I'll usually say j/k anymore b/c it's gotten me into trouble. I've tried to be careful because even if it's seen as "humorous" in some ways it can be a form of passive aggressive bullying or so I've heard. So it's not always easy for me to know as well but I know if it's personally offensive than it's not "funny."

Aside from that, I've noticed there's an awful lot of it on this site, sometimes I wonder if it's sort of an aspie trait.. :?

It can be a funny thing and a bad thing in my opinion as long as the person's willing to apologize if they have offended you and you've made it clear to them. Otherwise, it's another form of bullying.

I find sarcasm hard to recognize, especially when I don't know the person well, or at all.

I can usually recognise it, probably because I use it a lot myself and understand the sorts of situations where it's likely to come up, but every once in a while someone's sarcasm will trip me up.

I usually know when someone I'm close to (esp. a family member) is using it, and I'm pretty decent at using it myself. But there are occasions when I won't recognize it, especially if I don't know the person very well.

See Sarcasm? topic

I am sarchallenged! Perhaps many Aspies are like this because we are focussing so much on the content of the message, whether written/spoken, that we miss the structure or package the message comes with. For Aspies, the medium is not always the message. :nerdy: :study:

I'm decent at recognizing it. Especially since I used to speak fluent sarcasm.

Now, my mom? She never gets when I'm joking.

Isn't sarcasm generally hard to decipher in written text anyway?

I'm not too bad with it compared to the average person. I actually use it to get on with people, in that way I don't think it's bullying. I say something sarcastic and they say something sarcastic back. To me that's like verbal sparring, just teasing. I really click with people that I can do that with. But, and this is where I do see where you're coming from, some people don't like it or don't find it amusing. When I sense that I stop right there or else it would be bullying.
