I’m one of those “function over form,” type aspies when it comes to clothing. Super cheap or thrift store blue jeans and white t-shirts from Costco for work etc. Couldn’t care less about trendy brands and looks or high fashion stuff. I mean, I like the way some of it looks on some people, I just can’t be bothered to care to spend money on stuff like that almost ever - just not wired to care about it.

Buuut, decided to have a bit of fun with cloth face masks since we’re going to have to wear them whenever we’re out for possibly the next year or more until there’s a workable vaccine available And everyone’s gotten it.

Also, I figure that wearing some funky looking fun attention getting face masks Might actually help promote others to wear them. Maybe. If so, bonus.

I’ve seen a super elaborate one with sequins and stuff looking like a runway model all colour coordinated w/ some designer dress. That’s not My style but it was kinda neat to see some high fashion rich woman with her piece of face flair.

The ones I’ve ordered up are definitely more.. youthful and funny. Heh. I have a homemade one my aunt made months ago, and some basic ones, but I’ve recently ordered a half dozen different cool ones because once I decide to go back to work I’ll need to wear one or two clean ones every single day sooo may as well mix ‘em up and have a little fun with them!

Anyone else onboard this train?

Edit: 4 out of 6 of them I ordered from here, in part because they’re half price right now with the discount code “mask50” - I am in no way affiliated with this company, At All. I’ve simply bought some clothing from them as Christmas gifts before and decided to pick out some of their funky designs for myself and sharing the link just in case it’s anyone else’ style And they can justify blowing money in part because they’re half price:

Another I ordered form my sister in law’s Norwex (cleaning products) online sales business. And the 6th, and most exorbitantly expensive, is from an Etsy seller.

I'm not much into sequins and glitter; I'm more of a blue denim type.

So, if I could get face masks made from blue denim cloth, I would be happy, especially if they had the golden threading and rivets at the corners of a certain well-known brand of blue-jeans.

One of the first google results for denims face mask:

So, it looks like you can in fact find one that’s probably close enough to your preferred brand’s look. 8)

Do it! :D

I've been happily making masks out of old trousers. Not sure I'm really selling it though... when some people see me, they seem less reassured and more like they expect me to be holding a bloodstained chainsaw.

I think turning a depressing requirement into a creative outlet is good for everyone!
And it may encourage certain people to WEAR the masks they SHOULD be wearing, but are not! I hope Fnord gets his ‘blue jeans’ mask!

As depressing and troublesome as this pandemic is I'm excited at the opportunity for masks to become as commonplace and fashionable in the west as they are in Asia. I also think we should adopt bowing instead of handshakes. I've already switched from surgical masks to different color cotton/polyester masks and making sure they match my wardrobe, I've been trying to find out where I can browse and order more interesting ones, thanks for the link.

I also like these:

Harajuku luminous cartoon face mask
Funny Cotton Dust Mask

Can’t breathe through blue jeans as well as light cotton paper fabric filters , I want an old brass divers helmet instead of a mask , with its own built in air compressor . Maybe. Something to be able to hold it up too,
As those looked very heavey, but optimum protection and very durable. Very Steam punkish.

I made myself a mask from a black bandana with skulls print. Searching my wardrobe for some material, I found it the most convenient item.

There are many from all over the world. Everything from African prints to Japanese cranes to anime character faces etc.

There are a couple more from other sellers that I really like but didn’t buy yet. May or may not ever - they’re also quite expensive and it’s very difficult to justify spending $$$ on these things. For now, one stupidly expensive one will do.

The ones I didn’t buy are pretty cool, though. One is black with a neon sort of sugar skull print, and the other is printed with Hannibal Lector’s mask from The Silence of the Lambs. :P

Okay , now we are talking style, ... need a special dress mask , one that goes with evening dinner parties.
One for wedding receptions , one for casual. Dinning out , One for having fun at the water park.
A whole new genre of articles of clothing . “Now Masks Aren’t just for Halloween “

Thank you for the link.

Yes, exactly!

That’s why I ordered this black with white pinstripes one just in case I have any formal occasions of any sort to attend:

Etsy! There are a bunch of different options. Some of them suck, some look great. A couple are on sale right now, too. I haven’t picked out a winning fave design for myself yet, but here are the options:
