I'm allowed to obtain a hunting license, but, not allowed to posess a gun. WTF?

why is it that the only time I need to do something delicately like carry a bowl full of water to another room, I stub my toe? I wouldn't have done that any other time. Seriously? I had that happen the other day. We've lived here for three years and I haven't stubbed my toe once on that threshold but the moment I try doing something like that, whack!

Similarly, in Texas, it is legal to kill any wild snake in any place for any reason. You can go out and kill thousands of them if you want to.

But if you take a snake home alive, unharmed, even if you plan to release it again, it's against the law - you can get fined and possibly even go to jail. Unless you have a hunting license.

Yes, in Texas, you have to have a hunting license to capture live snakes and keep them alive, but anyone can kill them, even endangered ones that are completely harmless (as most snakes are).
