Yeah.

I got my drivers licence today, after taking the test.

not bad.

and I'm 20....should have had this done last summer, but there were complications.

oh well. I'm happy.

and school starts soon, and one of my friends is teaching me stick during the year....should be interesting.

Congratulations, have a drivers license makes your life a bit easier and the world a bit smaller.

Strange that in the US you get a full license without showing how to drive a car with a stick. It makes a lot of difference in driving style.

wow, that is strange - guess some get pretty helpless if they suddenly
have to drive a stickcar for some reason

I suppose a stick is a bigger deal in the US than in the UK?

Congratulations on your new acquirement 8) Next stop a stick so you don't have a worry about what transmission is in the car :D

GO FOR IT

Do love to drive cars without stick, its so relaxing
compared to the stick, just brake and gas, love it
..of course when burning rubber, then its another story :)

I'm all for learning, however the fact that I like Automatic is what I've used........then again, most of the trucks at my summer job are mostly if not all Stick.

Awesome dude. Stick was absolute hell for me, tho once I got the hang of it, was no problem. First learned the hand/foot coordination thing on a forklift, was quite fun. Motorcycle manual transmission is the pits. But I got that down now. All I gotta do now is learn how to drive a car! :P

One good thing about a licence is able to take a long drive to get your head empty and some relaxation. So I wish you a lot of relaxed hours on the road.

Congratualtions!!

Once you get used to driving manual you will be at a major advantage compared to most starting out on the roads these days.

I will be getting a license soon (need to read the rules of the road) and I am using automatic, whereas if I was in Ireland, I would be learning with gears.

I love going in reverse and parallel parking, it's going forward that freaks the bejesus out of me!

Enjoy the freedom you now have and safe driving

Later Later

I've already done previous drives before my liecence with my dad, couple of times this past school year, I came home and so I drove instead of him, on teh freeway. I loved it. my dad(and my mom) are terrified of me driving, but I love the freeway, give me 60 plus anyday.
