By means of compound suffixes (or prefixes), the base can have a variety of meanings.

It's a while since I've been really into languages. But the amount of inflections in languages like Latin makes it very hard to master. And it's not just verbs, it's nouns.

Some languages are even worse for inflections. Greek is at least as bad, well Ancient Greek anyway. As are Slavic languages like Russian.

Lithuanian is an example of a language that AFAIK is even more inflected, not to mention Basque!

I must say I prefer them less inflected, like English!
