I don't know how common it is for "us" (this is a collective for the users of this site) to enjoy writing. I'm a dabbler, nothing more. I enjoy writing, and many people say I'm good at it, but I've only written about past experiences and such like that. So, I suppose the real meat of the matter is this: How common is it for "us" to write, and who wants to share?

I'm not particularly fond of it. I don't like to do essays at school, I don't like creative writing, and I never really kept journals. I may be in advanced English, but really the only thing I can do is type on message boards :)

I'm always coming up with ideas for stories.

Now actually writing something complete... that's where there's some difficulty.

Quite the opposite here. I've been told I'd be a talented writer. I couldn't come up with a suitable topic, if it meant saving my mother from death by burning.

I like to write, when I have time and privacy. Unfortunately, nothing you could post here...;)

I have been writing novels for some time now (albeit they have not been published). I have written four, rewrote one, and I am currently writing another based roughly on the universe in my first.

I write a lot. I write poems and epic stories. And I think it is very common for aspies/auties to write - that is why there is so many books written by those on the spectrum...

I'm usually asked to edit or review press releases and product descriptions that lack the feeling of importance / identity.
Friends who are into RP-ing quite often ask me to provide a coherent story for their general character-outline.
And I'm told I'm generally a good (and sometimes excellent) technical writer.
I've dabbled with poetry, but so far I've only written three that I'm really happy with (and i also keep those private).

I've not had formal training in writing and quite honestly, I don't understand what the big deal with good or clear writing is. Why is it so hard for (some?, most?) people to write something that conveys their intent to someone else correctly? Is it because we approach writing in a similar manner as social-interactions and that we wonder if what we wrote will be interpreted like we think we wrote it and rewrite it again and again if it didn't, until it's just right?

I write alot, it just ends up that way
through the things i work with, i
have notes attached to my floors,
doors, walls and celings sometimes :)
not enough space, and i live in a big
house.

I re-write alot, maybe 4-5 times and
then it usually start to look half decent.
...after a couple of more re-writes
i`m picky and rarely pleased with what
i do so i tend to re-write and start over
alot. Failure is not an option and i want
perfection dammit!! Its alot of work
re-writing everyting but its a part of the
process for me to get some decent results.
I make a draft, put it away for a few days
or hours and then i look it over and make
it better, and then i repeat that procedure
until i feel ok with the text, that its usebal.

I'm pretty hyperlexic, I write constantly. unfortunately I can't really come up with many good ideas... so usually I write down things I've heard or did or stories I hear from people.

if someone gives me a subject I can write a damn thesis about it lol.

I used to write scripts but when I stopped working in a bar I kinda ran out of ideas.

I'm good at writing creative essay's or ones based on a subject that I'm interested in. I prefer reading to writing though. :)

Ideas come in by the loads. Translating those ideas into words is another matter altogether.

I'm used to write and read a lot... Yeah...
Sci-fi Novels, philosophical novels. I have no problem to get ideas, nor to write them on the paper (or type on the keyboard )
I have no problem either in writing essays for school work, they're easy, and I master the art of metaphor (In French, of course ^_^)
But my hand-writing is disastrous. That makes my grades for essays go down and down... :(
PM me if you want more info. on my writings.....

I love writing and I want to be a novelist when I'm older. Right this minute I have my notebook open on my desk in front of me and I'm just taking a break from writing my story now!

I have zillions of ideas for stories in my head. Though for the ones that are set abroad (ie. most of them), I can't start them til I go to the countries where they're set, which won't be for ages cos my parents say we can't afford a holiday abroad this year which is unfair cos I NEED to go to Dubai and Tuscany for two great ideas I have!!

ummm one of the few originals that didnt have inspiration from another poem lol

I'm walking through, a sunlit corridor
rays of light, cascading to the forest floor
I make my way through the world of green
I continue on to look for sights unseen
A glance ahead, lets me see the break of dawn
I stop to watch the glistening dew fade, until its gone
I look into, the slowly lightening sky
and see a graceful hawk, soaring so high
The luster of its feathers has left me astounded
but then I think of all the beauty, surrounded
by the ocean of living and moving colors I see
While I make my way to an ancient tree
to sleep under its sheltering shade
until the heat of noon has had a chance to fade
I set beside the trunk under some low hung limbs
and some soft grass thats often broken on the stems
I look up to watch the clouds slowly drift into the horizon
shifting positions to stay in the shade due to the moving sun
I walk once again through a darkened corridor
My feet are now the only thing brushing across the forest floor
the day passed in peace, without a word being said
exhaustion overcomes me as I lay down in bed
I close my eyes but I wish to keep
natures beauty in my mind as I sleep.

by,
Mike
