I think it would be a very technologically advanced world, but we'd be at war a lot.

it wouldn't be a whole lot different I wouldn't think
we are still human
and have all the same problems everyone else does
we're not special or gifted
just different people.

All I can be sure of is social awkwardness would be much more tolerated. In fact the very concept of formality may not even exist.

Other than that I cannot be sure. Would the world be better off? or worse? Would the absence of a large number of NT's cause more Aspies to step up to lead, or would anarchy reign? These questions can't be answered easily.

It would probably be a lot like Switzerland used to be when I was a kid: reactionary, antisocial, inflexible, suspicious of strangers, obsessed with rules and order, completely free of irony, peaceful, leading in science and technology.

I agree with Cyberman: if the majority of the world population had autism/Asperger syndrome, social interaction would be a lot more awkward and difficult than it is now.

@DeloreanDude, I like to think that autism isn't what makes you, me, or anyone here special or unique. I always thought the complete 'picture' of all my traits, quirks, talents, etc. is what makes me a unique person. Autism definitely is part of that, though. A world where autism is the norm and lots of folks are walking around with the same special interest I have, would make for interesting competition and good sport, I'm thinking.

Icheb has probably described a 'world of autistics' quite accurately.

I agree that it's not just autism that makes us unique, everyone has many different qualities that do that, but I do think our special interests would help us a lot les in our lives if everyone had one.

All the aspies that i personally know in my family (seems to be genetically dominant) We are all extremely rational, we keep calm, very good at keeping our tempers, avoid confrontation unless it compromises our beliefs. We communicate well with each other and only each other. (We take things literally and talk literally with no underlying meaning which makes for easily understood conversation) we work together extremely well together and can build upon each others ideas relatively well.

All in all being social would increase because with more people that ACTUALLY talk in literal terms (well this may just be me and my family and those few that i know) would mean that there would be less confusion and then we could easily talk in public without the fear of being misunderstood because an NT had an idiotic assumption about an underlying meaning that wasn't there.

Also I can't stand the NT obsession with interrupting you to ask a question your about to give the answer to when it should be obvious.

Also they dont pay attention to exactly what you say. Prime example, was in walmart getting something with a friend and a girl says we are with her when she is making a scene I had seen the officer come into the store and watched his partner stay in the car, so when the cop comes to ask me if we are with them (he came alone at the time) I ask, "how were yall doing" (I have a southern accent) and then the idiot says "yall? do you see anyone else here?" then I say "apparently english is your second language or its been a LONG time since grade school or you would know that were is past tense meaning not now but before now such as the last time you saw us since you must have seen us before in order to follow us I also doubt you really came to this store without a partner since cops usually come in pairs" eh he didnt exactly like me much after that and he wrote my name down (bad sign I guess)

I mean I pay attention to every detail when I talk so whenever someone else doesn't pay attention to exactly what is said it annoys the hell out of me. I had to work to gain an understanding of the english language so when others dont pay attention to whats said it makes me feel cheated since I spent all the time learning and it is partially to completely ignored. The idea of a world where everyone pays attention to detail and says exactly what they mean seems like a Paradise to me. Plus we could get along much more easily.

Ah I've gone and rambled again, well im getting sleepy lol goodnight everyone :)
