They might be really fascinating with a web as strong as steel and such, but... Spiders are STILL creepy!

So I've made a poll - which type of spider is the creepiest?

And if you want to, mention in the comments a few reasons people should or should not (or both) fear spiders.

The Golden Orb Spider of Australia is so huge that it catches BIRDS in its web, and devours them.

True.....Google it...the pictures are chilling!

Im scared of white spiders the most. They can be so big and just simply look like death.

Giant crab spiders for me ("huntsman"). Big, fast and most importantly, they wander. Not venomous though.

Golden silk orb-weavers aren't scary to me, as the big ones are always in their webs outside which are suspended between trees; they're easy to avoid. The huntsman spiders tend to find their way indoors often, and they're a lot bigger.

I've seen some really big huntsman spiders before. Easily bigger than my hand.

Maybe you should also include venomous ones. I'd say all options above + venomous.

I think the scariest are (in order) the extremely poisonous ones, and the jumping spiders (jumping spiders are harmless but I've had them jump up at my face when trying to capture them to set them outside -- and they move FAST).

There's plenty of Redback spiders around here (they aren't all that uncommon in the suburbs too); they're the same thing as the Black Widow for the most part.

I've never seen a Funnel web spider. I've seen a Trapdoor spider once (it ate a Lady beetle that I rescued from a pool--I put it near a large stone beside the pool, and as it was walking beside such, a large Trapdoor sprung out and grabbed it. Ironic).

The only creature I genuinely fear [in regards to venom] (no silly phobia. Rather a real threat to life), is the juvenile Eastern brown snake. The little things can inflict a readily fatal bite without you actually knowing it.

I'm scared of any spider that is either big in size or venomous. Although I have yet to encounter the latter, I have seen some big spiders that I don't think should be that big. My brother's friend had a pet tarantula once, and when it died, he put it in a small box. I looked in the box without knowing there was the dead tarantula there, and when I saw it, I freaked out.

None of them,I like them and the jumping ones are cute. They are a gardeners best friend and keep you house roach and bedbug free.
It used to be bad luck to kill a spider, old saying," If you wish to live and thrive, than let the spider run alive."
I'm more scared of a can of Raid than a spider, chemicals, ugh.I'll take the spiders over cancer causing agents anyday.

I prefer to let spiders live quietly out of sight in my home...

...but one night as I tried to get to sleep, I felt something against my tummy. Thinking it was just a sheet folding in on itself, I brushed it away in the dark. A minute later, a tickle on my tummy again. Curious what could be causing it, I turned on the light and threw back the sheet to re-tuck any loose corners - revealing a small black spider. It was totally harmless and tried to run for it... there was no way I was ever going to sleep again knowing I had a rapist spider on my hands. It died quickly and painlessly.

None of the above, the jumping kind (so you can't smash them without risking them jumping on you) 8O
