frequently i see the hosts saying this, "i wouldnt even sell this for a different price, even if it was my mother or someone i like" now i understand the question, but what i want to know is this, why doesnt the host relise that the merchandise will sell reguardless of what he sais? i mean common! they have offair prices im shure. also the words: just for you and absolutley seem to be fake on tv, AS THEY SAY IT TO EVERYONE. you cant be like that in real life, there is no way

Believe it or not, there are actually people who are gullible enough to fall for stuff like that.

i think your right, also being a loyal viewer for years i can see they say stuff like that to make the product seem better. for instance since when is turquoise ever priced over a $1,000 for a ring? persian turquiose is expencive and is generally considerd the best, but this wasnt stuff from iran

Like P.T. Barnum said, there's a sucker born every minute.

People who actually knew something about gems wouldn't be buying them from a shopping channel -- they'd insist upon inspecting the gem in person and see any accompanying paperwork. Buying a gem sight unseen is just asking to get ripped off.

well normally i'd agree with you, but this is the channel i watch. http://www.gemshopping.com/ it was founded by a gemologist, and seems to be the real deal. i love watching it and learning new things about gems i didnt know before. for instance, tanzanite is only found on 4 square miles in tanzania and nowhere else. as much as they whore it on that show i guess its warented

Today's word is....commission...;)

Commission - you're paid on the price you sell an item; the higher it is, the bigger the share that you get. It's in your interest to sell high, always...;)

I don't think mineral gems are really valuable anymore.
All their chemical formulas are simple like salt, which is also a mineral.
Diamonds are simplest of all, they are compressed coal.
