I love pet rats. I just got one for my son for his 8th birthday. It's a russion blue thas is named "Remy". I fell in love with it and then, the next day, went out and bought me one. It is a "dumbo" variety(big, round, low set ears). He is mostly black(very dark grey), with white on his belly and his front legs, and a pink tip of his tail. They are just soooo cute. I haven't quite decided what to name mine yet.

rats are awesome.
what cage do they have? do have any photos of them?
think of a theme, and then the names from each theme.

am used to have rats.
first ever group of bucks were from a pet shop-and they lived the longest, and the rest are rescued.
last had a big group of hooded rex bucks, had them up till 2005,when was moved into a institution by social services, and they wouldnt let the boys come,am wasnt able to look after them anyway-as dad had to do that,so it wouldnt have been fair on them.
they were found a home by dad-he had got to know a pet shop owner, before finding out her son was autie to-and he was desperate for some more rats, they went with their favourite cage-the superpet ferret kingdom-a massive thing.
would never get rats again,as hard as try not to-because the years of having them and watching them die were too much-they are a best friend, they unfairly have short life spans, having to watch them suffer through common rat cancers and get PTS is too hard to take anymore.

FrogGirl,
if have not had rats before, have a look at all the local vets as soon as possible,to see how experienced they are with rats, because almost all the local ones here knew nothing about them, not good when there is an emergency or one needs PTS.

We can't have rats here. It's either too cold or we get the Rat Patrol after them. =/

Yes, that is where we got the name. My sons rat looks just like the rat in the movie. I decided to name mine, Oreo.

Rats make wonderful pets. I had a beautiful and smart and affectionate rat named O'Larry. She was great. Now I have larger pets but I would love to have rats again. They can go places with you...snugged up in a sleeve or behind your collar, so precious.
