to do nothing could be to be without acting. nothing != something. something is a thing that is. nothing is not. if to do nothing is to be without acting, rather than without metabolizing, respirating, cogitating, and such. then you can do nothing. otherwise, no.

but nothing definitely != something. something, singular, is a set of one, while nothing is a null set.
