What's it called whenever you wake up in the night and you're in a state opposite of sleepwalking? Like where you can see and hear but you can't move.

I had this happen last night and I had always heard about it on paranormal shows (often a reason for people feeling like they're held down in their bed). I wasn't scared since I knew what was happening but I forgot the word for it and my google searches thus far have come up with nothing.

Protip: If you get hallucinations with sleep paralysis, this could have rather odd results.

It's sleep paralysis and it's not fun.
I used to get it when I was on anti-depressants.

"Sadly", I haven't had allucinations.
I move, very very slowly, 'till I can pinch myself in the arm or cheek or any part so I can wake up more easily out of the paralysis.

Yup sleep paralysis. I've had it a few times combined with what felt like a heavy weight on my back pushing me down into the mattress. It was very frightening the first few times it happened.

I think I read about it in a Popoular Science issue a few months back. *runs off to find the October '08 issue*

Yup, thats called sleep paralysis. It happens when you wake up too fast from REM (rapid eye movment) sleep.
